Dear players,
Now that our first event has finished, the Events Team would like to ask you for your feedback.
We have noticed that some of you are concerned about the timing of the events; our intention (as happened with this event) is to make sure that we spread out the "introductory nights" as much as we are able to, but we will try to make the "main night" always be a (late) Friday or Saturday evening so that the Europeans and everyone East of that can hopefully stay up later due to no work in the morning, and the North Americans should have more chance of being able to attend, either because of it being a Saturday or it being done later on a Friday. Unfortunately this is a downside of being a truly international community, but we will try to accomodate as many people as possible
Apart from the timing issue, we are especially keen to hear your answers to the following questions:
What did you like about the event?
What did you dislike about it?
Are there any things that you think could be changed or done differently that would have made it better?
Please constrain your comments to Events - offtopic posts will be removed in order to keep the thread focussed.

Re: Event Feedback
I liked the event, it was a good start from the new event's team however the one thing I would of changed was the raid on Underwood Woe, as it was in a pvp area it made things much harder, either the PvP should of been turned off or we should of went to the newly fixed Demons Lap where teams would of been in a position to heal each other.
I liked the huge Vorax, that was a nice idea, Raj seems somewhat small now The story was well thought out and executed well, love the fact that existing tribes where used and that they didnt aggro on ous for a limited time period.
Communication could of been improved a little but it got better from the first night.
Overall a big thumbs up.

Re: Event Feedback
Overall, what Scorp said I liked a lot that use was made for one of the tribes for the storyline. So much more could be made of these numerous fellow citizens, and I hope this is the start of many similar dealings with the tribes-people of Atys (maybe an increase in tribal fame for those who partake in events concerning said tribes could be included as part of event rewards in future)
The only concern I heard raised was the length of the trek. I'm ignoring comments by one "Nalon" over the course of the event here, (I hear him no longer. Nuff said) but by other more considered voices, some new, some old. Personally I like trekking, so the length of it was fine by me, but more than one person did seem to weary of it by the time we reached Nexus. The fact that we were trekking through a PvP zone may have limited such complaints by giving our warring guilds something else to think about other than that their feet were getting tired, but perhaps this should be borne in mind in the future.
The only down-side I found personally was the length of time we were given to get to the meeting point in EF for the final stage of the quest. Now OK, most ppl got there before us, so maybe it was bad luck on our part, or just bad trekking, (not likely) but after contending with missing TP's, lagging team members, WAY too many cutes (thenk you Bounty Beaches) even with team members with good knowledge of the safe paths through the trekked zones, we were unable to get there by the deadline. OK it made no great difference in the end, but it would have been nice to be able to get there on time
All in all tho, great stuff. Thanks guys and keep them coming

3:1, 2:1, 1:1 ... probability factor of one to one; we have normality. I repeat: we have normality. Anything you still can't handle is therefore your own problem.

Re: Event Feedback
I would agree with the previous posts and I, personally, enjoyed the event greatly. The overall story line was well thought out, planned, and executed. The dynamics of bringing in NPCs/tribes and allowing their participation in the event furthers the lore of Atys and our understanding of the history before us.
I could not attend the first day of the event but I did watch the proceedings via Beau's webcast and hope that he does not stop running the live stream for future events (hint, hint).
The second day of the event was enjoyable. The big vorax at the end was a fun challenge. The downside to the trek was the banter between factions and the pk's along the way - but for the most part the banter and fallout occured to those that strongly PvP in the first place and it seemed there was minimal harrassment of others.
The thing that could have been improved was on the final day and the short amount of time given to get to EF. Though most homins already had teleport pacts to get to EF, there were some that did not. Ffi was a great leader on our trek to EF and I applaud her greatly for her expertise! But, we did miss participating a bit in the story due to our tardiness (30 mins was a hard run from Fount to EF). I would also say that taking some new players on that trek was a majority of the fun as well, on my part. Perhaps there could have been special pacts sold to homins who did not have them already or if some type of "notice" could have been given or a special mission to complete to get the event pact or even a side event for player that happend to bring them close to the location that would intertwine with the main event.
I agree that the task given us in Underwood Woe would have been more realistic to the RP if the PvP would have been turned off. We all came together to locate and secure the amber cube, we should have been able to assist each other with heals to fallen members not in our teams.
Great job Events Team!!!! I look forward to the future of Atys and the many adventures that lay ahead!

Re: Event Feedback
Oh right, event feedback.
Well, I can pretty much just repeat what I said in the event thread, but I'll try to be a little more elaborate. Mostly I agree with the posters before me.
What was very awesome were the specially-spawned vorax, making the Cockroaches camp guards temporarily friendly, actually having the Cockroach tribe-leader NPC talk and play a role in the story, and having a whole party of Cockroach characters join us in the Raid on Underwood Woe. These things actually make it feel like we are playing a part in something that is happening on Atys, while without such elements it feels like the PCs are actually isolated from the world and only pretending to interact with it.
Involving the tribe was in itself a very nice move, because it took a long-existing NPC group, explained something about their motives and ambitions and goals, then had them play their own part in the events. This elevates them from 'scenery element' to 'active player' (though still controlled by the GM, ofcourse ).
The dialog was very good (except for some smiley usage by event characters on the first night that fortunately didn't continue into the follow-up parts). Kudos to the improvisation of the event characters too. While some speeches were obviously prepared and it's naturally impossible to respond to the queries of a hundred players, overall I think their dialog felt responsive to us and not like they were just rattling off a script.
As far as I know the only rewards given to participants were rare materials, which I think is perfect. IMO one-shot events like these should not give any unique rewards, but it is nice if they give something worthwhile. The lore we 'uncovered' is also exactly the kind of interesting little historical anecdote that adds a little more to Atysian history without making any storychanging revelations.
Oh yes, I also liked how the event had multiple parts. On Friday first the trek to the Cockroaches camp, then killing the vorax, and then we had to find our escortee back too. On saturday first a search for the packers and then a raid on the kitinlair. Getting another task after the first one is finished like that keeps things unpredictable.
I think my only real point of criticism was the "Get to Highwell before 1200" on Saturdays event. Now don't get me wrong, I actually love the idea of a time condition on an event objective. My criticism is that this objective severely penalized those without PR pacts. Those who had PR pacts could port and pretty much leisurely stroll there, while the party that had to go from Fount had virtually no chance to make it there in time.
(I understand the event characters actually waited longer for us, which I appreciated, but still we missed the start of it, while those who'd teleported there were probably already getting bored waiting.)
So, in the future, if the purpose is that those without PR pacts shouldn't attend the event, then please have the event start in the PR, rather than giving those people false hope that they can participate. If the purpose is to make us race to a spot, then please pick a spot that's equally hard to reach for everybody.
I've no other real criticism, just some suggestions that would've made it even cooler:

- Some kitins ambushing us on our way to the Cockroaches camp on friday.
- The Kitin Gatherers butting in asking what the Cockroaches were doing in their region on saturday.
- Kitin larvae would make better rewards if they came in all colors.
- Fame increase with the Cockroaches as rewards (don't go overboard with this, some of us worked for that fame ).
Re: Event Feedback
I think the event was technically a success. You made it exciting and entertaining, improved the communication with the player base as it went along, made some tribe impersonation and interaction.
I'd like to point something about lore, and how the event relates to that. Pero made an in-character post about it that is worth quoting:

As the history of homins move along, I do hope that this event and the upcoming ones in the series, are consistent with significant changes SpiderWeb intends to bring to the Saga itself. Otherwise, it would just mean that all roles are scrambled indiscriminately for the sake of creating events."Why would a hawker, any hawker go to any government official and put them in complete control of recovering their lost merchandise? What is even more strange is having the Trykoth treat with the roaches. What purpose did it serve to involve them? The hawkers themselves led the delegation, why would they increase the risk of never recovering their loss by becoming the ambassadors of Ailan? Why not approach them as the guild of hawkers?"
"So, who was the winner in this little play and who were the losers? Whose ideals were moved forward and whose were weakened?"

Re: Event Feedback
The event was enjoyable. The others have stated some good feed back.
The only thing I really wanted different was the terrible retreats at the end. Everyone just stood in the middle of the spawns and ported out... (this was not helped my the general just poofing there aswell). This left huge room for error... as people who were not as quick to port away got caught up in respawning enemies. fortunetly the first day only 2 of us got DP (me and Goofymonkey) and managed to get the rest out, after a near wipe.
The second day was not so lucky. I personally watched 6 people respawn, just a few meters away (pic at bottom as to why) And know of about 8 more that had too (and I'm sure there was more). And ended up dying myself as I was pinned in the lake by many Kiros.
A good way of solving this for the event team... Stop all spawning in the area of the event, when it ends, for a period of say 2 minutes to make sure everyone has time to get away safely. (even just one minute, as long as its well warned). This would remove the only part of either day that really killed the fun for me. (only need to make sure nothing spawns within aggro range.)

-note this was about 20 meters from where the main group was standing. I managed to get into the water. But since you can't TP out of water, eventually tried to speed through, only to fail.
