. Balanced the aggro range, in order to improve the gameplay experience:
If you are not engaged in combat, mobs forget you at a 100 to 200 meters range.
If you are engaged in combat with a mob and keep fighting, he forgets you at a 150 to 250 meters range.
Has anyone determined what determines the variation they implemented?

I imagine it's just a random determination, but it's possible they made a distinction between herbivores and carnivores like what was suggested?

This is potentially a translation issue:

from previous notes...
Be also aware that there are two aggro range limits :
  • - The first one is the distance you have to run before the mob disengages you *if you don't keep attacking it* (currently 50 meters; the new, increased, range will be between 100 and 200 meters).
  • - The second one, larger, is the distance you need to run before the mob disengages you *if you keep attacking it while running away* (currently 100 meters; the new, increased, range will be between 150 and 250 meters).
The first one is relative to the place you last hit the mob; the second one to the place the mob was on your first attack. If you go out of one of the two ranges, the mob disengages you.

So put differently :P

If you are not attacking the mob you have to run:

100m from the point you last 'hit' the mob

or

200m from the point you first 'hit' the mob

And

If you are attacking the mob you have to run (Range weapons I guess):

150m from the point you last 'hit' it

or

250m from the point you first 'hit' the mob

Is this clearer or as confusing as before?

(changed first to last... etc :P )

From that quote, it sounds more like it should be:

100m from the point you last hit the mob

or

200m from the point you first hit the mob

But then, that still doesn't make much sense. You can't run 150m from the point you last hit the mob if you're still hitting it while running. And what about if you don't hit the mob at all, if it attacks you and you just run from it?

bows to sidusar
You can with range weapons :D

they continue to fire and hit, even when you are running.

Edit - Hehe I give up :P I have read it again and got another completely different interpetation :( Guess my mind is elsewhere (Tequila!)

See you all on Monday :D have a nice weekend!
