erm fellgrim I appreciate you defending me.. but it's me that asked him to do a try with the gingos and such, because I didn't want to accumulate more DP, I asked him in another thread (dun remember what one) and actually he is providing me an useful service no pun here intended at all I asked for it.
thanks to him I avoided more frustration to try out the scowling gingos of patch 21 (since they would have destroyed me literally at the state of the things) and I am waiting happyly the next patch (tuesday patch where they promised to reduce significately the aggro mobs damage to let people solo them). so nope he didn't trolled or baited me

I posted this in another thread that was deleted for whatever reason, but Keriann, the game is no longer 'patch 1'... if pre-patch-1 was a '1', and post-patch-1 was a '10', the game is now a '2' or '3'. It's easy again. A lot of combat fixes announced for this Tuesday actually went in a couple days ago. If you're having trouble with Scowling Gingos, it would be because you're just not high enough level to legitimately fight them :)

well, the euro-en forums are dead, the germans are too busy thinking about how many people left/are leaving and i generally prefer the american attitude on these boards =)
also a question to you keriann, why do you think they'd destroy you? i mean it took a very similar mob 10 hits when i was buck naked without a weapon and i can level on them with my mediocre equip (my jewels are ~ql20) and two daggers :/

If scowlings could be killed easily at lvl 40 pre patch 1 then they we set way to easy in the opinion of the development company. They changed them to much harder, they community hated it! Now they set it as a middle ground.
Damage has gone up, but the length of the fight has been greatly reduced.
Therefore DOT (damage over time) has only been increased slightly compared to pre patch 1.
Benefits are solo'ers and teams have shorter, more dangerous fights = more fast flowing FUN.
We have been pegged back on the mobs we fight, which means progression through all the levels of mobs is slower, but makes for a bit more life in the game.
Good equipment is now a requirement, making harvesters and crafters even more vital (can only be a good thing!)
Equipment should be more readily available Merchants - on the Euro server I list 10 sets of armour at close to base price over the weekend.
There should be no reason for any player not to have the best equipment for their level!
Ask a crafter - if you can't pay now pay later (equipment on credit). As equipment doesn't wear as fast (people not fighting mob greatly above their level). You will be able to earn enough dapper to pay for the first set and save enough for you next set, before your credit set wears out.
If you are in a guild there is zero excuse for not have equipment. Our guild of only 30ish members has at least 3 or 4 high level crafters, who craft for free to the guild.
The game is different after patch 1, because its now 'playable as intended'
Blind - made it easy to progress too quickly on the 'super' mobs.
Material collection rates were too low even with 'mode 1'
You had to been on-line at the same time as the crafter for equipment.
All of these are now gone!
A much better game than pre-patch 1.
Many people lost sight of what good patch 1 did, because of a small number of issues that made the game a little unplayable for less than 1 day!

Actually, although I am level 70 in fighting, I can safely get from MG to FG without 1 mob acroing on me, not saying that is that I can't kill what does agro, I am just saying that with the knowledge of the layout of the land, you can travel safely for the most part.
I did a test over the weekend to see how far I could get twords Tryker territory, and found that I could still get into the Maze in FG prettymuch without incident, IF I watched the cutters and avoided them like the plague.
Once I got there, the damage was done to me the same it was pre-patch 1 with around 500-700 a swing from the cutters inside.
The game is highly playable now with the damage dealth outside of the cities.
More so by the fact that I created a new character in Zorat to see how a level 1 newbie see's the game.
From what I found out, leveling as a newbie is FAST, on top of that, the newbie island is geared now to get you up to level 50, although you can leave it before then.
This totally made sense to me since the mobs you have to attack after leaving the newbie islands are level 30+ and give great exp if you fight something 10 levels beneath you.
The game exp arch is more balanced now than it was both pre and post patch 1.
Although 21 is instable as can be and causing crashes to desktop by just harvesting, crafting, entering/exiting apartments, running around, or even in battle, its atleast a fair assessment as to what the creatures are worth.

in closing i can say that with semi-proper equipment you can kill scowling gingo/goari and with good equipment even level on them
with no equipment it is still possible to flee them given you have the right skills(speed, invul, selfheal, selfheal aura, melee protection aura) and aren't 2 km from the nearest guard(tho it is even possible to achieve that when using above skills judiciously)
