Just for you, Miss Kitty, I went out to see how the monetary lesser-endowed members would fare out in the wilderness that is the lands beyond the gates of Pyr.
I did the following things: I stripped down to a measly loincloth to at least protect my modesty. Not one piece of jewelry or armor remained on my body. This left me with 600 HP. Then i went to the various weapon merchants and asked them for the worst pieces of killing equipment they had and purchased the following:
1 Basic Pike of Durability, NPC-Item, Q50
1 Basic Long Sword Long Sword with Parry Modifier, NPC-Item, Q50
2 Basic Daggers of Damage, NPX-Item, Q50
Equipped as such I went out the eastern gate of our great city determined to kill various animals. Feeling bold i approached a Sprightly Yubo with my Long Sword and proceeded to slaughter it. It fought back ferociously and the fight almost ended in a stalemate, but a lucky slowing strike to it's frontlegs gave me the necessary edge and 86 XP. After recouperating from this encounter I beset upon it's smaller cousins, the scampering Yubos. I was able to kill 5 of them in a row with each of the weapon combinations mentioned above without noticing a big drain on my health. I lost perhaps one fourth of it during each of these 5-Scampering-Yubo sessions. Each session lasted for about 2 minutes and gained me 5 x 393 XP.
Next i proceeded to the Caprynis and again i chose the scampering sort. They proved a bit harder to beat since they were always on the look-out for their brethren, but luckily they are rather short-sighted. So I took them in 3 per session in the following way: First i killed 2 of them with the pike, 2 since one of them came to help the other, had to use my selfheal powers once during that fight. Next i searched out a single one and also killed it with my Pike, then I choose the long sword and killed another single one after which my health and Selfheal power was sufficiently regenerated. So i deliberately chose two of them who were standing isolated from the herd but still quite near to another, easy kills with having to use my Selfheal. Next i killed two single ones with the two knifes, and since my health and Selfheal had again regenerated sufficiently I proceeded to see if i could kill 2 at the same time while only using knifes and emerged victorious.
Each of these kills gave me 393 XP and also more loot than the Yubos gain me. After I did some more testing i come onto a point where my bag was filled, so i decided to try something suicidal.
Naked and only with a pike i approached a Growling Gingo and engaged it in combat, I barely managed to kill it by using my Selfheal Aura and Power, but it resulted in some nice 903 XP. Still not satisfied i sat under a treee to let my health come back and then threw myself in front of a Scowling Goari only to watch it take 10 hits to kill me, of which nly 5 hits actually touched me and inflicted damage.
And now excuse me while i undertake measures to fill my wallet again and lose that DP.
Good Day!

uhm... I appreciate all the effort, but you didn't tried out what is the important thing for me: scowling gingos. I am concerned for my safety for merely walking around in majestic garden whithout getting killed by scowling gingos and growling gingos.
I have no idea what a scowling goari is.

Re: Front-Report Special Keriann Edition
scowling goari is about the same as a scowling gingo only in crab-form and sometimes with a a lightning special attack
in closing i can say that with semi-proper equipment you can kill scowling gingo/goari and with good equipment even level on them
with no equipment it is still possible to flee them given you have the right skills(speed, invul, selfheal, selfheal aura, melee protection aura) and aren't 2 km from the nearest guard(tho it is even possible to achieve that when using above skills judiciously)

Re: Front-Report Special Keriann Edition
I have been around most of Majestic Gardens and I can confirm, there are aggro mobs, making it unsafe for a player of any level to simply walk around. I do not know of a game where you can simply walk around in complete safety, unless it is in an area where it is known that no aggro mobs frequent.keriann wrote:quote:

That said, it is perfectly possible to navigate around Majestic Gardens in relative safety, but one must be aware of ones surroundings. Know where the gingos hang out and avoid those areas. I have my compass radar set to 50m, any mob that enters that radius is conned to see if it is dangerous or not. If I am unsure of my whereabouts I tend to hang out in the center of a herd of bodocs or Capryni, given a lot of targets the gingos will attack what is closest to them and I get advance warning of danger and a chance to prepare.
A sense of adventure also helps, as does a willingness to play the game. This morning I was playing alone and decided to travel from Davae back to Yrkanis. Being careful of my surroundings and employing the tricks I just described (as well as others) I made the journey in about 20 minutes, picking my path carefully, avoiding packs of gingos at all cost, but picking off singles whenever I was able to. It was dangerous, and I found myself near death more than once, but I survived! It was like solving a puzzle, and it was a lot of fun!
Keri, if you would like I would be happy to impart what I have learned about surviving in a dangerous world anytime. Please feel free to contact "Miy" ingame and if I am not otherwise occupied I will join up with you for awhile.

Re: Front-Report Special Keriann Edition
it doesn't really matter in the end =) only thing i noticed is that with daggers you miss way less than with any other weapon

Re: Front-Report Special Keriann Edition
pikes are the best weapons in the game atm. you need really well made daggers to approach the lvl of a decent pike.
and non-piercing is just.. meh.
granted i carry a pike, 2 daggers, a 2h sword, and a 2h mace at all times... but that's just cause they look nifty =)
