Maybe I'm not understanding your question properly, but you've always been able to sell the items you have looted and the items you have made to merchants (i.e., Raw Materials Merchant, Jewelry Merchant, Melee Weapons Merchant, etc.).

The NPCs are there to add life to the cities. Some may say there are too many and others that there are just enough, it's a matter of opinion.

It would be the local/outland suppliers who you can check (by right clicking on them) to see what they want to buy, but will not purchase anything from you. And hawkers also have a list of what they want to buy, but will not pay anything over normal price.

I on the other hand have no way of fulfilling the needs of these NPC's. I am told of a time long long ago when I could fulfill these specific needs and desires of my firends and they would handsomely reward me. Is there news on when my friend will once again be able to receive from me the baubles that I bear? And if they no longer desire the findings of my adventures, perhaps my fine friend would care to cease their babbling about such items. (For example, there is an NPC in the Greenseed camp in Matis, and I believe all Hawkers offer this as an interaction.)

OK, Hawkers will buy things from you, that is correct. The NPCs will not buy from you. Once upon a time they did and this was a bug, which has been corrected long since. The items the NPCs are asking for are mission items, they aren't really selling to you. Merchant NPCs will sell to you however.

So, to recap, you can only sell to merchant NPCs and Hawkers and I don't think this will change anytime soon.

Cool so how do we start a trade to give them these items?
Or is that a feature yet to come.
For those who know about today, I have a supprise for you tomorrow.

We are talking about Suppliers!

Suppliers used to buy certain wares at a higher rate pre patch 1. Since patch 1 suppliers don't buy anything anymore, but still tell you what they would like to buy. I was confirmed that this is a bug. Sadly it hasn't been fixed yet.

This added with the non working fame on item purchases/sales made lvling crafting with vendor mats very expensive.

The reason why it gave no uproar is that most crafters harvest their own mats anyhow and the amount of mats gained harvesting has been double or tripled in patch 1.

Cerest, this was never a bug. Local suppliers were meant to trade with the players and the amount of Fame that you had with that particular tribe influenced the buying and selling price of your items. The bug was in the fact that if you had high negative fame with a tribe the tribe would , after tell you it did not want to trade with yout, buy your goods as if you had +100 fame with that particular faction. Either the devs couldnt' figure out how to fix it or something because since patch 1 we could no longer sell ot outland suppliers even though they still ask for particular items.

He is talking about the bugged "suppliers" that used to buy the mission materials, and also paid a significantly higher rate for some crafted items. I know that I paid for roughly ten crafting levels each type that I craft using suppliers to keep the raw mats dappers hemoraging to a minimum. Now I just tollerate my crafting being so much lower that I HAVE to buy my armor and weapons, since no matter HOW much I forage, I still gain three foraging levels for every crafting level I gain and NO nerfing foraging is NOT the answer.

On my personal experience (I know this is off topic of the thread but a useful bit of info), if you go with max bonus source time/extraction rate/land specialization prospection, you'll get more mats pulled per level of harvest. Pulling 7 mats at highest Q for my skill, i'll get about 1500xp, pulling 14, i get around 2200. Twice the mats, but only 50% more xp.

At 151 harvest, using aggressive rate 5 with +25 sec source time I'm making 2 levels of craft (this is for making things at highest possible quality, aka 110 HA vest making q120) I'll make, on average, for 1 level in harvest.

This is just my own personal experience.

Back on topic...

The local/outland suppliers ask for mission mats and crafted gear. As do the hawkers. Saying they will give you a better price for the items on their list (which is how it used to work pre-patch 1). While one can still check for their lists (target them and then right click and select the 'what are you looking to buy' line), suppliers do not purchase anything, and the hawkers pay the same for the items on their list as for items that are not on the list.

So, while they do sometimes ask for mission mats, there are a number of non-mission mats listed that they want. Removing the listing for what they want to buy, or making it so they will buy(for suppliers) or will pay more (for the hawkers) would be a good deal in either scenario, since that option to check is still in game.

Right, the second half of this thread has it basically right.

In the Nooblands you first meet this "problem" or "bug". Let's not really mince words in the end it is either an omission or a bug.

You can right click on these Local Suppliers, they STILL give you a list of preferred items.

The help in game and in manual STILL says that you should expect to get higher prices for these preferred items.

You STILL cannot trade with the local suppliers.

You STILL cannot give them any of the special items.

You STILL cannot sell off many of the special items like A Green Leaf, because NEITHER do the Local Suppliers buy or take them, but the NPC merchants don't buy or take them either.

This leads to Noobs going around asking how do they sell or how do they give an item to the local suppliers. For a couple of nights in the Nooblands we spent 3-4 hours trying to test every conceivable method.

I talked to a Customer Service agent about this. He said it was a known issue, this was at least 4 weeks ago. Even though he/she said it was known, he wasn't too conversant on exactly how it was wrong.

Cerest, your answer may be correct in your mind, but it isn't all that clearly stated either.

Here's the real problem. There are still these special items being generated in the database and they still show up as occasional quartered loot or harvested loot. They can't be sold or traded. That's as of 4 weeks ago. The NPCs still have that right click option for "What They Want to Buy" and they still interact as if the generated loot is part of the mechanism.

This goes back to the concept of "Job 1" in the old Ford Commercials. You've got a bug, minor or major, in-game that actually distracts your customer from enjoying it. You've got wasted database requests and sends taking up part of your server's time and memory. The overall impression does not add to the customer's vision of the game.

Then we are told it's a known issue , and older temp fix to a bug that the Local Suppliers couldn't handle a while back, or something like that. Not good.

Finally, when you right click for the What I want to Buy option ... you should get a message from the game saying this function is currently not working or no answer at all.

That's what you should do if it isn't working and you need a quick fix. Estimated time to create that system message and patch it into game, under 2 hours maximum (probably under 1 hour).

The real hope is that since it was something you intended to be in-game and makes sense still and has not been abandoned by design, would be to get it work, but that will take more development time.

Anyway, it's not a good sign when the "known issue" gets so old that comments about it seem incomplete and the reason for it ever being broken and not attended to are so nearly forgotten that it ALMOST begins to look like a feature, in absentia.

You should really fix it. But that's I think what Zumwalt's insanity was all about.
