Guild jumpers are in every game, even care bear servers in EQ had them.

Heck I have been accused of guild jumping, and by the numbers...I guess I am guilty..in EQ that is. SIX years of play 16 guilds. Sounds ugly, BUT each guild I had a reason to join, and a SERIOUS reason to leave. Most of the reasons revolved around my being in the guild for four months and still not getting even the CRAP loot, and having gone to raids that were strictly for the benefit of 15 others, but no one showing up for MY benefit raids. Fair is fair and I don't mind helping, but I got sick of being a doormat.

My EQ experiences is one reason that I made it to level 77 forager before I would join a guild. I have a SERIOUS guild/clan hang over, even in a game where loot is NOT that important, I am STILL leery. Not that anyone in Ryzom has earned that concern or anything.

Pffff.... you think that secrets are the thing you should be protecting? What about rogue guild members that run around foreign lands doing missions and lowering guild fame. Nothing like waking up in the morning to find your kami or karavan spawns don't work anymore. ;) We are open to nubs, but I keep my eye on new recruits for the first few days. A one week timelimit would not be so bad.

1)Even as guild leader (who has the biggest impact on fame of any member of a guild in game) having 100 personal tryker fame, my guild only recieves 25 guild tryker fame from this (I know this because i'm the only member :D .). A -50 personal fame nets about a -6 guild fame.

2)There is a timeframe that must expire before someone's fame fully impacts the guild, and the guild in turn impacts theirs. I forget the exact amount of time, but it is around 4-7 days I think. So it wouldn't be an immediate drop in fame for you either.

3)It takes a really low fame to lose your respawns. I don't forsee 3-4 'members' of a guild being able to accomplish this in a few days, let alone 1 person overnight.

Also guild leaders and officers contribute more to fame than members.

Some excellent responses in here. We do our best to pre-screen members but there is only so much you can do without putting people off from joining in the first place! We also use Ventrilo for the bulk of our guild members but not everyone gets an invite to Ventrilo... well... because most of us don't want fourteen year olds and the like on there.

The spy thing sn't much of an issue I agree, I should have eloborated. What I see as a potential problem is the people will be able to insta-switch right in the middle of GvG warfare without any sort of time delay or penalty. Seems "realistic", but please, remember the outcry over the packer realism patch :)

Lil thing about guilds:

Guilds ar fun if you have playd with the ppl in it. But when a guild recruter walks up to me and gives me an invite... . Its kind of stupid. I whos not in a guild so i accesepted. 3 Days (beleve me a long time 4 me) and i fugurd out that i'ts a whorthles guild who needed numbers but not players... .

I'm still a Noob (+/-38h of play) LvL 55 Deff magic 50 craft 28 For 47 melee. And i still dont get the guild system.

Ok, Ive had my fun with this thread. Heres why. First of all there is realy not much reason to guild jump accept to use the guilds to get what you can and move on. Then if you want guild info its easy enough to create a char and be in two guilds at once.

For the first part. Every body will soon know who you are and what your doing. For the second part. What kind of info do think is going to be exposed.

When I first read this thread these two things came to mind right away and I begain to laugh so I thought I'd have some fun. I hope your not upset but the whole thing just struck me as funny. :)

I have posted already my feelings on guild jumpers, but another post reminded me of what I would like to see. A recruit status on members. It would be great if a members was listed as "recruit" until they are promoted. I understand that is what the waiting period is for, but it is not always appropriate.

Example:
Bumbly is a great gal and we want her in guild, but after recruiting her on Sun she tells us that while she plays all weekend, her work schedual prohibits her from playing during the week. Next weekend she has a wedding, and will not be on, so we wait two weeks to game with her and get to know her better.
Sancho seems ok and wants an invite, since he plays 24/7 in two days we know he is ok, but again he is not a "full" member for another couple of days .... the same time Bumbly is a full member.

If we had recruit status it would allow us to manually promote Sancho and hold off on Bumbly.

Just a thought and opinion.

I'd like this too, especially if it could be reflected in the guild title. In a small guild, knowing who's who in the guild is a matter of remembering 10-15 player names. But Ryzom is likely to be dominated by much bigger guilds, and in a 200 member guild, knowing who is a recruit and who is a full member might be tricky without this.
