Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

Next game I am even going to bother to test is Wish. Not sure how good it is, they kept their closed beta...well pretty closed. But I think that that one is prolly the next good game.

I am not sure ANY of them will deliver upon the FULL promise, but I will look, test, trial and see.

No game will ever be perfect, because everyone's expectations are different.

I love SoR, but there are things about it I don't like or would like to see changed, but I know and recognise that I want those changes because they suit me and what I want, not necessarily what's best for everyone in general.

Trouble is, some (OK, many) people think their opinion is the only one that counts, and therefore if there's an element of the game they don't like, then it must be 'broken'.

Let's face it, people are already whining about EQ2, and you can be sure people will whine about WoW when it comes out. People have whined about every MMOG ever made, and will continue to do so for every MMOG that's ever released.

Two old axioms spring to mind...

You can please some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time.

One man's agony is another man's treat, one man's poison another man's meat.

I truly hope that everyone will find a game someday where they absolutely love every single feature and have a complete blast for every minute that they play, but in my heart I know this will probably never happen. Having said that, I honestly wish everyone the best in their search for the 'perfect game'...

so you FedEx this to him, and then he'll LET you FedEx THIS to this OTHER guy. wow, awesome. you're a lucky sob if you ask me. you know, you can get a job like that in real life! and that pays YOU a wee bit more than $15 a month to do it! hrm. ;)

that is not content. that's grinding with a happy face in front. it's almost insulting that they consider this enough to entertain people. wait, it does. my hope for the human race has just gone down the drain.

Sounds like you're pretty much tarring all MMORPGs with the same brush. Why do you play them at all, if that is the case? Why play Ryzom, for instance, if it's just another no-fun grindfest without the elusive 'Grail' of content, containing...

Also, you assume that WoW players are, for the most part, human. Reading the General chat in WoW tends to make me think otherwise. ;)

I have tried at least a Dozen MMOs by now and have yet to find one that held my interest as long as DAoC did.

They all have their share of grinding. None seem to have as much "content" as many of us would like.

So far, Ryzom is doing better for me than most games. I am not ready to give up on it yet.

Will I still be here two months from now? Guess we'll both have to check back in two months and see. :)

I asked somewhere, don't ask me where, I'm old and forget, but I asked for someone to tell me what the name of the perfect game is.

So far no one has told me. Instead all I get is, they crash to much, to much lag, servers are bad, this doesn't work, graphics are bad, content is bad, everything I have just heard from people who are quiting Ryzom. Very same things. So what is the big deal. Give it a chance and maybe it will get fixed but I believe they have to be give a bit more time than most people have given them.

Oh well let them go, leaves more room for my friends to join. :)
