I said the same thing in my posts, but you laid it out much better than I did. Maybe some will understand your layout easier. Thanks.borg9 wrote:To the best of my knowledge:
Early players got a free 1 month if they got a buddy to sub from the buddy program.
buddy program didn't give away anything. 2 weeks buddy program + cost of game + 2 free weeks + sub
free trial - if they want to keep their characters from the 2 week trial they have to play cost game + 2 weeks free + sub
Everything is equal.
Early players also got a free week becuase of lag issues.
So the winner is:
Early subscriber who got a friend to sub using the buddy program!
game cost (1 month free + 1 week free + 1 month free buddy program) + subs
Woot to Nevarx for playing it fair and rewarding the loyal.

Bah!!!
I paid full price for EQ and now the whole shebang is $29.00 and I still need the 2 new expansions.........
They are a money pit!!!
EQ players should have issues........but I think they are to addicted to notice that they have developed a tolerence and their drug is costing them more and more........(after the first hit judgement goes out the window and the addict develops tunnel vision)

Actually if you paid full price, you would of paid alot more, at least if you had started at the beginning. $29 gets you I think the first 4 or 5 expansions. When I bought it, I got the first 3, then had to pay about $25 to $30 for each addtional expansion and I think there have been about 5 more since for a total of 8, so I have close to $200 invested in Everquest. On the other hand that's also about 5 1/2 years worth so average about $35 a year in games, not really too bad. I would probably spend more than that a year if no expansions were added because the game would become dull and boring and I would have to buy a new game anyways. I mean how many classes can you play and go to the same places how many times before you die of boredom rather than some mob killing you. If you break the $35 down per year, that's less than $3.00 per month.
One thing people liked about COH was they didn't charge for expansions, BUT they did charge $14.95 per month to play. With EQ, yes they charge per month, but if you buy a 3 month subscription at a time, it's only $11.95 per month plus the average of $3.00 a month for expasions, that totals $14.95 per month... and viola... same price as COH and even same as SOR per month.
