I tried to get some flames going (which is odd because normally I am the quiet loner who doesn't say anything) but my nemesis stunned me with a civil response, leaving me to hang in the wind.
I also realized that since I was starting to flame when I normally do not, the frustration level was too high and so I bailed. Life's too short to be mad, specially over something so ultimately uncounted as games.
I'm not a religious person. I try to be nice and not kill people but when something is driving me to anger or frustration I put things in perspective for myself thusly:
Does Jesus really care if I don't turn in my TPS reports?
Does having a messy cube at work make me evil?
If my Ryzom character doesn't get to level 250, will I still get into Heaven?
Of all the things to be fixed in the world, where does this patch rank?
If I tell management to bite me, does it mean instadeath?
I dunno, makes it easier for me not to sweat the small stuff.
I have to use this a lot when I think about work. Even then....oh, even then....someday....
If I had a family, I'd be with them. Since I don't, EQ2 will be my mistress! WOOT!
So /ashamed...

Cleanliness is next to Godliness, and we all know that the absence of Godliness (or, cleanliness in this case) is evil.Does having a messy cube at work make me evil?
If you are Mormon or Jehovas Witness, you must not only get to level 250, but in every skill - and spend two years travelling the lands explaining why everybody else is so pathetically wrong (like JJ for example). If my Ryzom character doesn't get to level 250, will I still get into Heaven?
However, if you are Catholic, you are not even aware there are 250 levels - you just know that Jena rocks and will protect you from whatever utter destruction the Great Dragon may bring.
If you are some other form of standard "Bible" believing Homin, you can pretty much do as you please, so long as you beg for forgiveness at some point in your life and turn towards the Light.
Well, it most CERTAINLY increased employment, but increased workdays and lowered wages. However, it is not a choice, as inflation is rising at a ridiculous rate. Drech, we're communists now.Of all the things to be fixed in the world, where does this patch rank?
Yes. didn't I just say we are communists? If I tell management to bite me, does it mean instadeath?
Think you missed the communist part.I dunno, makes it easier for me not to sweat the small stuff.
You dream big, my friend.I have to use this a lot when I think about work. Even then....oh, even then....someday....
Every good mistress deserves a half decent wife to ignore the signs of betrayal. If I had a family, I'd be with them. Since I don't, EQ2 will be my mistress! WOOT!

Re: And in this corner ...
If by "explaining why everyone else is pathetically wrong" you mean the 5-6 incessant fanbois that refuse to listen to contrary opinion...
Then you are indeed correct.
And in all honestly, I'm not the one who started it. It started with people infering that I either didn't know what I was doing, or that I was a crappy player.
It's not my fault that none of their arguments hold up so they have to resort to personal attacks.

YOUR argument: THIS SUCKS WHATS WRONG?!?!
THEIR argument: What was the situation, the scenario?
YOUR response: STFU I KNOW WHAT I AM DOING!
Yeah, it's their fault.

Re: And in this corner ...
Just wanted to point something out during my morning reading...
The 'fanbois' are being too optomistic in the way they describe the new combat, even saying it would be preferable to the old system - blind. Not too realistic or honest, IMO.
The 'whiners' are crying out that it's impossible, and they can't leave their cities, most without taking the effort necessary to readjust. Not too realistic or honest, IMO.
Frankly, when either side accuses the other of lying or being ridiculous, I slap my forehead, mumbling "kettle...pot...black..."

Re: And in this corner ...
Ok, here's my experience in game, for what it's worth. I play a Fyros main, lvl 83 2handed melee, lvl 75 offensive affliction/elemental, lvl 73 standard healing magic, lvl 51 defensive affliction, 133 adv desert forage, 101 medium armorcrafting, 93 2handed melee wpncrafting... really, too many skills to mention. I wield Q80 weapons optimized for damage and wear medium armor Q110 with dodge modifier.
Ok, now, as for leaving Pyr, it's doable. Many mobs on the way to Fourways, less that 1km away from town, I can one-shot or two-shot, sometimes 3-shot, and some might even give me a couple xp. Upon arriving at Fourways, vigilant kipees give me around 300 xp and take me down by several hundred HP (with armor and jewelry, I have over 1700 hp, been keeping that maxed ) Strong kipees, on the other hand, give me around 1500 xp, and more often than not take me down by over half my HP, and if I get stunned, then, prepare to respawn, unless I should get unstunned in time to hit self heal, then I still have a chance at winning.
Prior to patch 1, I was able to fairly reliably solo scary cloppers, for around 2600 hp in 2handed melee fighting. Sometimes I needed self heal, most times I didn't, unless the clopper split on me. Losing a few hundred HP was usually no big deal, I could go after the next one without even pausing to rest. The vigilant kipee and strong kipee? I'd farm them for grinding mats hehehe
Now, was I gaining xp too fast? Maybe. Did the mobs have to get so much harder to withstand? I don't think so. Sure, there may have been some balancing needed; I was dodging like a madwoman thanks to high forage, but take that away, and the mobs even below my lvl tend to hit more often than not, like around 80-90% of the time. This means more damage over time, by the way. Now, with creatures doing more damage over time, did they also have to have their damage per hit increased by 200-500%? Again, I don't think so.
And did I mention that the effectiveness of magic has dwindled greatly? I never did get the hang of solo magic prior to patch 1, only used it in groups, but even I've noticed that casting on a mob higher lvl than yourself, you're lucky to do damage one time out of ten. Gone are the days when some higher level fighters can help a lower level nuker gain xp for his preferred attack; now, groups have to be at similar levels in what skills they are using in order to be effective. Kinda sucks for those of us who like to mix it up, fight a few rounds, nuke a few rounds, heal a few rounds, IMO.
Now, having said all that, were there balance issues needing to be addressed? Yes. Were there exploitable bugs in game? Yes. Were all the changes in Patch 1 necessary? IMO, no. All they had to do was to fix the bugs and see what that did first, not go hog wild with changes to beat down the fighters and mages until they're bloody pulp on the sand. I think that people can accept change when it's delivered in small doses that they understand the reasons for, but great big horse pills of it make people choke, which is why so many have already cancelled their accounts. I haven't yet, but then, I can't afford to shell out $50 for a new game right now...

Re: And in this corner ...
Come on guys, if I don't start seeing some constructive responses I'm going to close this thread. It's starting to become a flame war, which we all know how much I just *love* those.
