Yes it WAS a wonderful game. I've played since beta. I loved the fact that I was able to solo single creatures...even take on 2 ragus at a time. But I can't do that anymore. I'm level 35 melee and the only thing I seem to be able to kill tonight without being killed first is suckling yubo. I mean seriously...that's stupid. I don't want to have to find a group every time I log on just so I can play a game. I like being able to solo a bit and talk in regional chat while I do. Since that's not possible anymore, I've cancelled my account. I refuse to pay for a service that I'm not happy with. As another poster said and I agree with - I don't go back to a restaurant where the food and/or service is horrible. It's my hard earned money and I get to choose where to spend it. I will spend it where I can solo and group if I want to - not where I'm forced to group. That's why I quit COH too.
Have fun those of you who are staying and enjoy grouping.
Wonderfull game... or was..
Re: Wonderfull game... or was..
I have to agree ,i played the game for fun and to relax after work .you took the fun out .no more money from me .i canceled,as all should do to show we wont take crap like this ,take out patch and roll it back ,then i might come back.
Re: Wonderfull game... or was..
Some thoughts: Harvesting is just not fun anymore. I thought something was wonky even though I knew there had been a patch, so I did a little test: 26 attempts at extraction in-town, with 5 succesful harvests. IN-TOWN. And that's the ones that allowed me to harvest, because even though I was standing on top of them, I was 'too far away'. pfft.
Didn't try meleeing, so I dont' know about the tougher mobs... though I did get killed by a *Suckling Yubo* that was bugging me while I prospected. "This is not right." thought I. And it's not.
I play this game to relax and escape to another world. Frustration is not relaxing. Frustration is not fun. Petty game mechanics are not fun.
Nevrax, darlings... we don't *have* to play this game. If people are progressing too fast for your story timetable, then rethink the timetable. I know you want an 8 year arc, but people *will* burn through the content faster than you want them to. You can't make the game prohibitively difficult in order to control progression. Your players will leave for greener, and less hostile, pastures.

All gaming companies are like that. It's the individuals that make the gameplay worthwhile. And, so far, this is a much more mature community than most I've dealt with. The patch is a shock to the system of the community. But the community will adapt and make it better.

Again, what you say is partly true and partly not quite right. Nevrax may do what they want, but if in so doing they don't produce a viable product, then Nevrax will go out of business. All gaming companies are motivated by the desire to stay in business and make a profit....which they can only do by attracting and keeping paying customers. In this they are no different from any other business.
Individuals cannot make gameplay worthwhile if the underlying game is broken or badly deficient. All else being equal, yes, individuals are very important, but they need a decent game framework. And the players can only do so much to "make it better"; they cannot change the game itself.

Plus...this game went live WHEN? Not quite two months ago? or two YEARS ago, sheesh, so many people are acting like this game has two YEARS of time that the devs have had to code in back story...add music and merchants for player made goods (both in last patch, and both a NICE addition, in my LESS than humble opinion), patch out bugs, hang ups, driver issues, and on and on and on.
Compare this game to EVERYTHING out there live...and then you will see, it half so bad as you think it is.
I've been sitting here chuckling about how naive that statement is for 10mins. Did you bother to look in the other forums>? French, German, English>? Funny. It's about the same. So, ready to cut and run? More than just the NA player base.
As to comparing this game to EVERYTHING out there live...you either have little to no experience with MMOGs or yer just blind to reality on the whole. There are two games in beta right now that are more complete than this game.
Um yeah, two years should be enough time to get a fair amount of content in.
I've not cancelled yet as I promised myself I'd give it a chance. So I will, it just sure as hell aint lookin good for the home team right now.

/agree
Seems there are a lot of players, tho, that think this patch might be good for something. I'm still reading through a lot of it but it's not completely inconceivable that, while the fighting was made harder (I agree - decrease it maybe 25%) and they may look into the harvesting error, it's still a playable game.
Of course, I can't run 3 feet from the guards but, hey! I have Walking Tall protecting me outside the game, might as well have a guard in my pocket ingame. But you may have a point - if I'm able to kill nothing but Yubo's for the rest of my character life, then the game isn't worth playing. I can't see those nasty little beasts creating an uprising in their camp, either, but if one happens Bruce Lee's my behind, then the devs have definitely gone too far and I'll keep my behind where it belongs from now on - in another game.
