Talk to the Shop Clerk at your favorite shop... they are the only ones to take games back. i am sure no one will give you some sort of refund here. you got exactly what you paid for... a game box including a free month ;)

I think they should exhaust all means of exposure they can find. Free trials are an excellent idea.. and that they're doing it after Patch 1 is, in my opinion, good timing.

I think it made sense to give out the buddy codes when they did. If you are inviting someone to play a game that you're playing, chances are you like it - or you wouldn't be recommending it to someone else to try... Reasonable assumption? And, since those getting the buddy codes would be getting it from someone already playing and familiar with the game, chances are they're going to be better informed of what to do, they'll be shown the ropes, etc. Where bugs and such are concerned, they're not as likely to get frustrated as someone coming to the game without any idea of what all is going on or what fixes are already coming.

So.. all in all, I think Nevrax has timed the Buddy Code and the free trial very appropriately.

The 4page spread in CGW and finding this site was the final thing that got me to say what the hell last Friday and get the game, before this announcement (timing is everything). I'm enjoying it enough to give it a go and thought I should direct some friends here for the free trial. But, it sure is hard to find any link directing traffic to the "14day Free Trial" details and download. How about some web tabs and links including something in flashing lights for all the new visitors you're hoping to attract? Make it a lot easier to find if you want more peoples - it certainly should be part of this sticky.

I apologize for not putting the details in place in this sticky but I didn't know them yet :) The particulars are still being worked out, so I'll update this thread as soon as I have more details.

Free trials are good, but why or why deduct their trial time from their game box free time? I had alwasy assumed the reason the game was a large price $60 or so, was for the game and the month.

I think the free trial is a great idea even if the buddy passes just came out. I am an avid online gamer and play with alot of people all over the world. Correct me if I am wrong, but with the buddy pass you have to have the discs to install to use the buddy pass. I have seen a couple posts showing some type of download you can do but I am not even sure if this is compatable with the buddy pass. This just makes it easy. Also, because of the other new popular games, they are reluctant to spend money on a game they haven't heard much about and isn't all hyped up in advertising like the other games, but with the free trial, I know I can get a ton of them to try it out. I have quite a few people already asking me where they can get it, so all I need now is a link. :)

Well for one thing that would give them a month and a half of free time. That's alot I think. But anyways, as for $60? Where are you shopping? My mother and I both have the game and only paid $45 for it which is an average price for games that aren't old.

Here's a link for it.

Think strategically. Nevrax has just released a new patch, a patch that they knew most existing players would be furious about, a patch that will undoubtedly cause many account losses. If I were with Nevrax's marketing department, I'd want to bring in NEW players for two reasons. One, (the obvious) to replace the players that are leaving. And two, new players don't have a clue about how good it was, and consequently, also have no clue about how bad it is now. (Everything is relative after all.) One thing MMORPG devs need to get through their heads though, is that pumping up the grind may increase game longevity, (in hours required to get to endgame) but it sucks the fun, playablity, and player interest (of the game) right down the toilet. This game isn't through just yet, but from what I'm seeing lately, it's starting to circle the drain.
