I absolutely loved the events of 2009 and did my best to attend most of them. Now I have a lot of work to catch up on the events covering with my Roleplay and Gaming blog.

This time, I must remember to take screenshots...

I really want to thank the Animation team. You guys are one of the two main reasons I keep paying my sub. May the Saga continue for a long, long time ! :D

Positivity first:
- It's always nice to read communication from the people behind or beside Ryzom.
- Events are a good thing.
- The summary of what happened in the storyline during 2009 is helpful.

Thank you, Animation, for all your efforts. Even though I don't agree with some of your ideas and implementations, you still have my appreciation. :)

Now for the griping:
I hate OOC events. When a mainstream game like Aion is more immersive than Ryzom simply because they bother to wrap holidays in creative, relevant lore...well, it's unfortunate. "Atysmas" and its Halloween counterpart are tacky jokes.

True.

I wish there was a way to separate such things from the rest of the game, though. Maybe by confining them to Ring scenarios, but the Ring isn't stable enough for it...

Hello and happy new year, Animation Team.

I feel the need to clarify that my past complaints never were against the event team nor about events in general.

You are doing a great job and, after reading about last past events notes, I seen you understood it's better to advise the community before taking away the entire content from Atys.

Very good idea to improve the in-game information panel: surprises are good but informations are better. :)

As a side note, I agree with Katriell about OOC events: i never liked them in any mmo I play(ed) because they so artificial, anyway I know many people like them so anything that makes community happy will be always welcomed.

Just give me (and everyone else that feels as me) a chance to continue my life in Atys and ignore such events.

Happy new irl year and good work to all of you.

It was very nice to see the return of official events to Atys, the place feels totally dead without them. Having said that, some of the more "major" events have been quite the let down. Most notably, the Halloween, government, and Kitin stock/lair events.

I have no problem with the occasional holiday-related OOC event in theory, they only come around a couple of times a year, and just for a few days. My goodness though, the Halloween event was horrific! Not only was it piss poor, it was forced upon everybody by removal of all mobs and mats! Just awful...

The governments sounded a great idea, with lots of potential. So far though? Kind of a slow process, with little to no purpose that I can see. Hopefully more will be done w/ them in 2010.

The raid on Demon's Lap in FD was a joke, it's far too overpowered for Arispotles population. Challenge = Fun, annihilation = lame. Oh and the Kitin Lair? Well... What Kitin Lair? :p Those that have actually heard anything about it at all probably forgot about it after 48 hours. What an underwhelming experience for something that we've been waiting for for years. :o

Something that's important to note though I think, these seem to be largely dev initiated events, and the failings are largely mechanical. So most of the blame has to be assigned to them in my opinion.

On the bright side(yes, there is one!:eek :) , some of the smaller events were pretty neat, like the botanical excursions for the nubs and bored oldies, and Xmas tree building. \o/

Yea I'm in the camp that missed quite a few of the events. (Didn't even know about the 'Almati's Woods Kitins Nest' event :/ )

But most any event that brings folks together and has something new is worthwhile in my book. Even the semi-events like the Matis Botony are enjoyable. Heres to tying these events in more with the in game lore and content!

So adding my thanks to the devs and the new event team. Great restart! RL Holiday events are fine in my book, would be nice to do the same for 'Atys Holidays' if they exist...
