Nope, sorry, definitely not. Having both the Saga section of the forums *and* the new RP site will hurt both. Closing the Saga section, while sad, will provide for all the RP folks to focus on the new RP site.

The RP site atys.ryzom.com contains all the lore and the chronicles, stuff that was hard to find with just the Saga section. It is new, so there is some potential that we can make suggestions to better streamline how it works. And it is a place where we can focus on RP and where folks know that what is posted there should be RP in nature. This will increase the immersive feeling.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Saga section. I have idled and posted in that section often and continually read the stories. But I see a greater potential in atys.ryzom.com. I would love it if more homins found their way to that site and continued to share their stories and experiences with the rest of us.

But roleplay is a feeling. And to give you feelings with words I need more than black letters and white paper! I need colors, I need a picture from me, I need ryzomfeeling like the green here. Its difficult do explain. When I go to the forum in atys.ryzom.com no text is in my head and in my heart.

I agree with you there. The RP site is, and feels, very rough right now. But it is still in it's infancy. Here is where we put pressure on the developers... "You moved us to this other site, now please work to make it feel like home. Here are my suggestions..."

However, there is much change going on right now and resource are stretched thin, I'm sure. So I'm thinking the best plan of action is to use the RP site and show the devs that it is worth investing some time into. Considering the importance of RP in the apparent plans of the game, I would imagine we still have more in store for the RP site.

Splitting up is never good. Decide for one and go with it. Be it Saga or the new Portal, I think the Devs decided for us here already.

I personally think the new "Wiki Style" Saga is exactly this, a Wiki. It does not feel very roleplayish, not very handcrafted. It looks like automated dumps of some lore sniplets.

However the system is alot more flexible and let's hope the layout and style the lore is presented will be worked on.

I don't think it's just the looks (which is highly unattractive and not at all user-friendly) which - as far as I can see - makes the new forum a dead duck (Duk?) from the start. It also is the fact that you have to jump around just for looking something up, as not everything important to RP will ever be found there, as it is spread over all sorts of forums here. That takes even more time than it takes now (and to me, it takes a lot of time already) and makes everything more complicated. Also, while the extern forum ghetto might bring some roleplayers together (not more than here, I'd guess) it will seperate RP from the non-RP so much that it will become even more exotic in-game as it became already. And it is clear, I think, that far less people will read what's written there than what is written here. But what is all effort if nobody reads what you spilled sweat and ink for?

Well, I don't feel much animated to use the new forum, honestly. So I will lay back and watch what happens, and if it will ever be able to get me back to take may pen. It certainly does not now.

P.S.: And if you wonder why I write this in the Aris forum - the respective thread on the Leanon forum is closed already, as without a doubt it will be here soon).

Voting against something that was already decided is a bit futile, but we are always open to hearing your opinions and suggestions provided that they are presented in a calm and reasoned manner

I really have to TRY and stay calm now.
Boroshi, everything in this thread was calm and reasoned. No-one ever got angry or said a nasty word.
It is only now that my restriction and reason is ever so slowly fading and my anger is nearing boiling point.

To close an open and perfectly legal and none-offensive vote, with no other reason than saying: "Its a corporate decision and it has got to be done", is .... well... outrageous.
Another step in the completely wrong direction of ignoring the Communities wishes and opinions.
Complete with the "Thread-CLOSED-for-dubious-reasons-Hammer".

I highly doubt that this will install any confidence in the new "more RP heavy" direction of the game.
Forcing us to obey and silencing our voice with brute force is..., not nice. *holding back on words here*
This is truly the FIRST time I´m absolutely p***ed off by a decision from "up above". (The closure of the vote, that is)
And can find no means to even justify it to myself.

Well, you very rarely will see me less than calm and reasoned, although I can be quite acidly in a calm and reasoned (and well-mannered) way. In this case, however, the thread was closed by reference to WinchGate's decision. So I really posted my contribution here because I wanted to give an indication of my feelings towards the new forum, nothing else. It has a lot to do with resignation, in a way, for I know well I can't change anything. But then it also has to do with passion - for the game and for RP on Atys (and what's RP without passion?). Things will not get easier by the new forum, and indeed RP will be exiled, with all connections to what happened until now contorted, sometimes broken. I see this with quite a lot of sadness, I have to confess.
