I put this thread up because I care, and there is nothing wrong with caring about the survival of Ryzom ..is there?

Thanks

No Incend this has been an excellent thread. You did good.
Ryzom has been my life for many years, well except for one break for reasons of ownership of game. But I am back and glad to be back and will stay this time.

It is still a great game and there have been many good ideas put in this thread. We can only hope some will show up.

No negativity or disrespect intended. I am truly interested in seeing a new branch open up, and watching the hordes of homins who have suddenly discovered something new descend upon the new skills with such fury that its going to make Christmas morning present openings look like peaceful times!

Hearing the region shouts of "Where is that kitin-cursed berry patch" and legions of homins running about trying to find new ingredients and recipies for X food item. Ahh, reminds me of the old MMO days where players spent weeks and months just on FOOD ! (goes looking for Niami Denmother...)

I have not had any trouble with the quests, mostly if you read carefully it tell you excatly what to do. I am probably wrong but I think that Javin quest says to go to Ruins of Silan, after running into it I think it comes up telling you what to do. Once you finally read it slowly you go oh doh yeah.

I love the hardness of trying to find the ********* fine motega wood, fine hash amber and the Sarina seed,
Well I take back and clarify some of what i said, I do think the individual missions on Silan are really really good. The texts could be a bit more clearer, but the missions are quite fun. What I was trying to say was that on Silan your gameplay revovles around the missions, which is ok for an intro, but would really harm mainland Atys experience. Which is why i really liked the old starter lands, it was the world that drew you out not the missions... but having good missions to do is a definite bonus

One concern I have with Silan is that it is super small, so can get rather crowded feeling, and it really feels like a kindergarten with all its tiny micro regions. The old starter lands had a much deeper feel to them. Obviously not relevant atm, but the devs do need to think about the day when there are more new players than Silan can handle... maybe then they could connect all the old starter lands into one huge starter region? :D

Some good ideas here guys thank you very much..lets hope more ideas are posted, and maybe..just maybe someone from the Dev team might have a minute or two to glance at them. :)

Cheers keep the imaginations flowing! :)

**Edit: One other thing, something me and my guildies were discussing yesterday. How about a buyback window, click the arrow to the page that exhibits what you just sold to the vendor.

Numerous times I have accidentally sold things that I didn't wish to sell, and rather than bother a CSR about something like that, a buyback window would serve the same purpose, and save folks some grief if it was a special item they wanted to keep. :) I know this is a doable feature, other more modern games have it.

Just a wish ..not a must have. :)

But I guess we can't hope for it any time soon... I can imagine how long and complicated the development process would be.
Leading off from your suggestion, isn't this civilization attempting to rebuild itself after a disaster? I don't know all the lore nor am I a lore buff, but wouldn't it be a logical progression ...that "someone" would (if we had food stuffs in the game) would be a farmer and would be producing crops?

Perhaps yet another thing to add to the OP territory within its boundaries. One sort of OP grows "this" crop another grows that crop etc...would flesh the world out more. And ...contribute to the trading between guilds that folks already do. :) Plus probably some new skills. And trading crop seeds yet another thing that could be done. :)

If the Devs think this might be viable, take a look at Lord of the Rings Online, they do grow their own crops in order to produce food with stats. The resulting plants are transformed into food for recipes, and the recipes make statted foods, the higher level cook you are the better the food turns out.

Again a suggestion..I am sure that idea can be formed to fit Atys and its peoples.

Currently we have drills producing cats, flowers and mats, ..there HAS to be something more to Atys and its peoples than that? :D

hehe A SUGGESTION ONLY. :) Not a must or a need. :)

Always choose "Sell to other players", even if you know this already, someone else may benefit from it :)

Uhm,
you can buy back what you sold. Under "Your Sell" if I´m not mistaken.
Unless it was not sold directly to the NPC its always possible to buy everything back.

Yes I don't always sell to players, however..and I indeed was aware of that. Was a SUGGESTION only ..

But thanks guys. :) Any comments on the other ideas brought forward by the posters here? I thought some were rather interesting. :)

Here's another thing I wanted to mention, I was doing a search on Fileplanet a few months ago and found the old files for downloading Ryzom. I also noted that...Fileplanet was looking for website owners to advertise Fileplanet on their sites.

Was thinking that..it could be a "you scratch my back I scratch yours" deal..where Ryzom would maybe get either free advertising on Fileplanet or a reduced fee, in return for Ryzom's website advertising Fileplanet's site. I didn't read the details on the website advertising..but you never know that might be feasible?

It might help cut some advertising costs perhaps for the new owners of Ryzom.

Thats how I first found Ryzom back in 2004, it was listed as a new game to play on Fileplanet, perhaps it can be there again?

Thanks

It's definitely a powerful way of attracting players - I got the original open beta from Fileplanet, and was simply looking for a game patch or demo at the time :) I didn't even know what an MMO was! :) heh
