As a player, I am concerned that Ryzom will land "under the radar"...like it did before.
I would love to see lots of newbies on Silan, I would love to see some of those missions on Silan improved, so that when you are told to hunt the newborn javings, you are also told HOW MANY in the quest. That as you succeed in killing each newborn javing, the mission updates and says...you killed 3..or 4 or 5 ending in the ten newborn javings you need.
Silan needs to be reviewed, for logical progression of the missions, and also to PROPERLY prepare newbies for the mainland. So that the newbies understand..that once they land on the mainland, there isn't going to be linear progression of missions like the trial island does.
Encyclopedia needs to be fixed/continued/ completed.
Lastly...in order for Ryzom to not fall under the radar again...Ryzom needs to have the spotlight full on it...advertise the beautiful armors that can be made ...the beautiful "just right textures" of the Fyros armor for example.
Perhaps a small video of the animals migrating, the yubos doing what they do... show the beauty and harmony of the rootball planet Atys.
Nobody will come to a party if invitations aren't sent.
Would you send the party invitations please?
Thank you

This is a thought for the Owners or Devs of Ryzom
Re: This is a thought for the Owners or Devs of Ryzom
Uhm, this is going to be difficult.
First, I don´t want to offend in any may, so please don´t misunderstand me, ok?
But, do you really think the new Devs don´t know these things already?
That all of us have been sitting on our hands since release and since Silan was put in?
Again, I don´t want to be rude, please don´t see this as an angry rant.
But, there have been thousands of words written on exactly these subjects throughout all boards. The international, as well as the French and the German.
And we all can see that the guys behind the code are doing their best to comply to our wishes and complaints.
They´re doing what they can, I´m sure of it. And they´re doing what is possible with the limited resources at their disposal and what relatively little time they have had.
I agree that some for of new Advertisement should come up. But such things do cost a LOT of money, which I fear is in quite short order atm. With the billing still not working and whoever gave funds to ressurecting the game, surely someday demanding their loans back... I dread that day.
As for Videos... *coughcough* Don´t ask me why those that have been done are so seldom viewed. Or here. Youtube
And marketing ideas... well...
http://forums.ryzom.com/forumdisplay.ph ... sprune=365
This is a sore spot with me too, for there are no decent replies from those behind the desks to any of these ideas. And I don´t think most of these were ever really too impractical.
So, before thinking that "nothing has been done." please just look around you and you will see that much already IS being done.
As for why it doesn´t work... damned if i knew.

Re: This is a thought for the Owners or Devs of Ryzom
Very much in agreement here, I tried Silan and got bored very quickly with the quest structure.
The screenies of armours are very important, alot of people that play MMO's are weapon/armour fetishists (some probably dont know it yet ), but the ability to kill in style, is unsurpassed in my opinion.
Racial spells would be a huge selling point, to this day, they are unsurpassed, to my knowledge, the heal spell alone, causes other games heal spells to look dowdy and dull in comparision.
The migration is another good thing to portray. All other MMO's have these static mobs, just standing there waiting to be killed, Ryzom mobs are so interactive, they come up and check you out, the carnivores attack the herbivores etc. I was in Sunken City at the weekend, a fight started between Raj and I think its spelled Boudai or something, I got killed by the AoE, but it was awesome to watch!
I always appreciated Ryzoms looks and atmosphere, but I have to say, since I went down to PR to dig, a whole new world has been opened to me, while digging, I actually have time to look at whats going on around me, the place is just teeming with interactive mobs, its unbelieveable and there is NOTHING like it anywhere else!
Well done Incend !

Re: This is a thought for the Owners or Devs of Ryzom
I just wanted to make a point or two regarding this thread
Its quite possible that Incend or anybody else has not read those old posts.
Yes I'm sure the devs are snowed under with similar suggestions for a long time now, but ...
Threads like this do have a positive marketing effect, Incends criticisms are positive, but IMO, the post is more about highlighting the positive and good things about Ryzom, hopefully my post about my own positive experiences, compliments Incends suggestions and remarks too.
I hope many people will comment in this thread about the things that they find great in Ryzom, because there will be new players coming here, full of curiosity and threads like these may give them an insight, as to why Ryzom players are so passionate about this game.
Acridiels signature alone, is a living testament as to how passionate he is about Ryzom and itself is a great marketing tool as well.
Sure, we have been banging the drum about Ryzoms greatness, for a long time, but alot of those posts and musings, are buried in the mists of time, it would be great to resurrect them here on the front of the forum, in a more current thread like this.

Re: This is a thought for the Owners or Devs of Ryzom
I also can't help but notice that incend joined only a month after acridiel. Given this I'm not sure the "go away newbie" attitude of acridiel's post is entirely justified.
Furthermore I agree. I have met a lot of people that really loved silan but found the mainland too empty and directionless.
The open, questless, sandbox style only really works if there are other players around too (and arguably isn't ideal even then).
If ryzom is ever going to be more than a tiny niche product it will need a little bit more mass-market appeal. It doesn't need the thousands of quests that other games have, but what it does need (certainly for the first 100 or so levels) is something to actually work towards that is tangible.
More and more as I spend time in various MMOs I meet people that would love Ryzom if it had even *one* thing to do besides crafting and RP. There isn't - not really.
We have been saying this for years - the concept of Ryzom is great. But a concept needs fleshing out before it will work in the real world - in the case of an MMO this means actual content.
There are those of us who love the world enough to see past the lack of any pre-made content - but mostly even us log in nowadays just to chat, or do a spot of peaceful digging.
I'm sure the developers realise this - but what I'm not sure is how high a priority they see it as, or how they plan to implement it. Maybe this and other topics will help for the former - there are already lots of threads for the latter, but I feel too many of them concentrate on high level content. We need something for our lonely low levels to do, too.
This post is, of course, redundant. There is nothing above that hasn't been said before, really this is just me being sad because due to lack of any content or direction I can't bring my closest friend here.

Re: This is a thought for the Owners or Devs of Ryzom
I absolutely, wholeheartedly agree with all sentiments in that post I fondly remember being kicked by a few people for suggesting Ryzom needed "more content", but the discussion was usually productive and good-humoured. I like the idea of having some form of directed content for the first X levels (not sure how many, but 100 could be a challenge for any small developer!), and I really think it would help to bring Ryzom the players it will need to survive. I know there is always the "oh god please not the drooling hordes" angle to think about, but Ryzom *does* need more players, and the devs *will* always agree with that - as long as the game doesn't suffer, of coursefadebait wrote:This post is, of course, redundant. Re: This is a thought for the Owners or Devs of Ryzom
One thing I have noticed is that hordes of veteran players chanted that "the first thing yas gotta do is fix all the bugs". Yet, since the patch, I can't remember seeing less people on line since the servers reopened. I'm not saying there aren't other reasons for this, just noting that for the bean counter types, doing what we ask for doesn't necessarily turn into real improvements in subscription numbers.

Sorry, if I somehow did sound too crass, despite my good intentions.
