If introducing flying space elephants as a new playable race would attract 50,000 new subs, if I were running things, I'd do that too. :p The reason we argue against it is because we don't believe it will. We could be wrong ofcourse, you can never be sure until you try, but then it's too late to change your choice.
Understood. Just picked a number out of the air and used it. I agree 50k was a bit high a number, but was trying to make a point, as you did by saying the number gained, if bigger than the number lost, would not be much bigger.

Great posts Ffi, Sasi and Misa. It took me almost 2 years to get close to a master since my play style is so varied. Sometimes I ele, or affy, or heal, or dig/craft...sometimes just chat for an hour or two. Wiping the levels is no big deal to me. Wiping the "person" is. And yes, it seems a little silly to be so attached to a game character, but as others have stated (more eloquently than me), the character has become part of us and we have become part of the character. Hopefully all this debate over "wipe or no wipe" is just a mental excercise, and we will be shuffling through the sands of Dyron or slogging through the jungle of Zora soon, as oursleves and not a diluted copy.

true!

you have your doubts about !ALOT! ahah!
iceaxe68 wrote:I don't give a yubo's butt about making it easier. Heck, make it harder! I quit the cats so I wouldn't ding so danged fast.
its not that i want it easier! the games to easy in SOME parts as it is! wot i want is speed! max ur skill then use it on a player! (hence why i want a alt) wiping my 2 years of play would just be a waste... and would make it hard to bring myself to doing it again!, it might not seem alot to some of u but hay! thats me!

iceaxe68 wrote:The teeth being hit would be those who care deeply about the character they have developed, and the history they have created, and the Saga. Dings come easy, alt or no alt. That other stuff is irreplacable.
some true but.... still single account players with max skills would be hit in the teeth! more so! dings come easy to active players, but players with busy lives wouldnt of found them dings that easy! so loosing it would be for sure a kick in the mouth!

iceaxe68 wrote:Actually, I think this thread is a great tool to argue against a wipe.
its a waste of time like most of the stuff posted on here, just let them get on with it! im sure thay dont want to hear all this pointless arguing from players!
iceaxe68 wrote:In any case, given that the faceless new owners have our old forum data, and apparently Aniro is up (but locked), I am of the opinion that all this wipe talk is needless fear. Have faith! Atys lives! SOON!
its a needless fear! and hate hearing the word WIPE! some of u guys must be really nuts! lol....

Myself i voted NO . Alot of how i feel has already been expressed here through friends and guildmates voices . Now having said that , during the lagfest i was on Aniro as Vrixy and it was fun ,but also knowing that one day i'd return to Aris . (or hoping to)

Vrixy is my original Ryzom toon and it just wasn't the same on Aniro nor will it ever be the same again if they wipe the servers . I know i didnt play alot from the start , i was playing other games and betas and such .

when i did come back tho i had fell in love with it and immersed myself in it , and yes i play with an alt . (ok ok multiples stop poking me Nysha :P ) .

Honestly i dont know if i can play again and have the same feeling about the game , I loved who Vrixy was and all of her friends and helping people and rezzing Nysha multiple times in Dyron or stopping digging to go to the GH to get gear for a new guildie ... It'd be wiping a piece of me that i love and cherish ...

im abstaining.

ie, i dont care if theres a wipe or not.

chances of me playing again are not based on anything related to a wipe.

Unless they make some nice changes to the game, ie. bring it out of alpha!

After I get up off the floor and recover a bit, I'll tell you long stories about busy lives... lol. :D

But I do see your point, and for many people, I'm sure you're quite right. My point was just that it is possible to get your skills back, but other things cannot be replaced. I won't belabor the point any more.

A good, meaningful conversation is seldom a waste of time; and if I had just purchased a MMO business, I'd be tickled to have a bunch of dedicated loonies who were just drooling with anticipation to give me money to play my game.

Other than all that, I agree with you completely! :D ;)

I put no because I would rather not. But if that is what it takes to play the game I am up for it!

iceaxe68 wrote:I wasn't there for the beginning of the saga. I love Atys and its story anyway. Maybe even more, because to me Atys has history and legends as well as memories. My hope is that when Atys returns, others will have the experience I had, joining a story already in progress, with helpful older people to ease the transition and give a good start. I hope I am able to pass on the legends I was told, and the memories I shared, which will become legends in their own right. Eventually I too shall pass away from Atys, though I trust that day lies far in the future. I hope, in the time I have remaining, to help create more memories which will endure, and will bring smiles to the faces of homins everywhere.
Thanks for your post, this is what makes the world come to life for me in a deep and immersive way. Have to remember your post for future discussions :)
