Not be a pain but, instances and questing are actually quite fun, the only problem with wows quest system is that it is very single player friendly.
Something id like to note, hopefully someone reads this is that a simple change would eleviate this problem, as those who play wow know, it is possable to share quests, a simple addition to this would be 'request assistance' and then any player in giving assistance can receive themselves an additional amount of xp/cash (even if they have completed the quests before), and then simply apply the same type of diminishing returns due to high level help, wich in a game like ryzom shouldn't really be a problem, if quest level range is given a big enough scope.
The end goal is that you have a much more multi-player friendly questing system, that would encourage grouping a lot more, as it have obvious bonuses to it.
All that is then left for the game developers to do is to balance the xp rates from pure grind and questing so that they are somewhat similar.
That way ryzom could attract a much larger populace as the game would be more varied in terms of what to do, you dont loose the choice on how you do it and best of all, it would maintain its so called good community due to the popularity of still requiring to group up to level. Wich soon sorts out the good from the bad - usually encouraging the bad to pack the game up and leave
As for instances, i can se why some are against them, but if ryzoms population was rise far beyond what it ever had, then you would soon be crying out for them. A simple example, who ever had trouble finding a good spot to grind because they were all taken? Jabs.. taken. Kinchers.. taken. Jugs? TAKEN ARGH!..
Simple solution, go to the nearest capital city, pick up a quest and supplies for a kittin nest exploration, and allow you and your group to head into an instanced nest, to slaughter a few kittin. gather some needed 'things' and get out, giving you +rep with that lands faction, some xp for the grind, abit of xp for the quest, and some uninterpreted grinding for 2 hours. (just how long does that "anti kittin cologne - warning only works upto 20m from any kittin" that the tryker "kittin hunter" gave you last??
But yeah completly off topic
