Thank you.
Selling these would remove the true value of these items, letting people know you were there when it happened. Sure, there are people who want everything, but that's their own problem.
By the way, anyone interested in a <missing:E_INVK_02_DOE_TOKEN_EVENT_P_SPECIAL_PIKE150_DOE>? Well, you can't have it. It's mine.

Tripple NO!
Sorry for the rant and it might sound "antiequalitarian", but NO, NO, NO!
I will never buy into a Game that offers better equipment to those who have bigger money.
I´m allready spending 40-60 Euros a month for hosting my Webiste for this game. Aditionally to the monthly fee I pay.
So, why am I not "rewarded" for my money?
Why am I not given Über-Loot and Items?
I can get into the mind of someone who´s willing to buy his way into the upper echolons of a game though. It´s so much easier.
No doing stenours grinds, no doing stupid quests, no doing running around and searching for stuff, just sit back, buy what you like and be considered "cool" by your fellow Gamers. *belch*
The downside is of course: No friends, just "admirerers", no real fun in playing, just the feeling of being "cool and 1337", no real game experience, just clicking on an item, sending the money and going "wow, look what I bought!".
What´s that opposed to something you did craft with your own charakters hands?
But its so much easier.
That´s the only argument left for those who "like" this stuff.
It all boils down to: they are lazy, nothing more, nothing less.
Why do all that "boring" stuff, when I can just buy myself a cool sword?
A false feeling of coolness is sold for the feeling of having accomblished something. Accomblishing something is too "boring" and not fast enough.
People want instant rewards, so why not just build a Game where there´s no leveling at all?
And all Items belong to you with just 100 Dollars send to the Company.
"Hey, I´m standing here in my Über-Armor, with my Über-Sword and my 1337-Skills and all others around me... look... just ... the same...
But they admire me, because they THINK I´ve done all this myself and none of them has had the same clever Idea as I had... to buy all his stuff ... erhm.."
Today we live in a world were you are laughed at, when you try to do something in a game on your own, it seems.
Just yesterday night I logged into WoW a bit and expereienced the following.
A fellow Gamer asked around if there was someone who´d help level him.
I asked him "why?"
He said, : "Because I have a friend playing WoW and he´s allready Level 70 and laughing at me and making fun of me in school." (I found out that he was 14 later)
So, I tried to tell him that he should not take this braggart too seriously and just let him get on with his game and that he, if he would level the normal way prpbably would beat that guy with ease later. If he just had a bit of patience.
The Boy refused to belive this and openly admitted that, once he´s get his full account (he was on the 10 day trial) he´d get pay somone to level his Char up to 70, buy some cool Stuff and THEN go back and play.
Before I could talk much more he logged out... -.-
Where the HELL ist the sense in paying somone to play a Game, you are paying for, for you???
So, this sadly is in my experience the way A LOT of Gamers think today.
There is no more real Gaming, no more real FUN in gaming, just competition for the coolest stuff and 1337est Gear and somesuch.
So, if Ryzom would be turned into F2p and MoneyforItems, we´d have a problem faster that you could spell HighlevelN00b.
It simply waxes me to no end, that someone whose purse is bigger than mine would be able to pretend to be good at something that he actually has absolutley no clue about. Sadly in our modern world this often is the case, but why the hell does this have to happen to GAMES too?
Money makes right it seems, no more just on a finacially big basis, but in Microsystems too.
Ryzom is/was a bit like "Communism" in that way, and we will combat "Capitalism" in our world with fang and claw!
IF this Game is to survive, and IF it then is turned into such a moneysink...
Then I´m gone forever baby.
I won´t give any money just to feel cool.
Never did and never will.

Re: GO F2p (SUGGESTION)
And I agree too, even if I wasn't there at that moment. Those things are special and were earned by presence and/or acts. They shouldn't be bought by the first newbie with a loaded wallet to come. They are "sacred" and should remain untouchable no matter what.
They should introduce 2 new titles though. Atysian Survivor for those who went trough GF's failure and Indestructible Homin for those who also survived Neverax bankruptcy...
Okay, okay... I'm out. *runs*

Re: GO F2p (SUGGESTION)
No one would want people to be able to buy those special items that are for people who attended events or are from beta. People who spend real money should NOT have access to items that are better than those who don't, altho i think those who do spend money should be able to buy the materials for those items that make the best, it would be a fast track way of getting great weapons and armor.
Things like add ons for armor, you can buy a cover for your armor which makes it look special for 2 weeks, the stats are the same as the underlying product, they just look different, buying cats, supreme materials and covers are things i would like to be able to buy. You can get them without spending money but it is a fast track method of getting these things.
It is basically a way to drag more money into the game, if implimented well with higher GM involvement, with events and cool items they can give out / organize, the game would be improved.

U re pointing in the wrong way
NO stuff that makes u better but stuff that makes it easyer or customisable stuff or skins or wings or just useless stuff that people like.
Everything is better than , Losing ryzom right so bring up idea's p2p isnt gonna work all 3 years and 2 times it has almost died.

And I could happily tar and feather whoever gave out the "hacks" for those emotes like the Breakdance and the Fireworks.
Mind you, I never had any of these because I was neither in Beta, nor did I preorder, or had the luck of winning any fireworks up to now, but I just don´t get why noone (Devs) ever did something about that. >((
It´s soooo coool to have a hack-command to do what you´re not supposed to do and brag about it and get ways with it.
Here´s a Big fat: -(insert insult of choice)- to everyone who thinks he has to do things like this to be "cool". You´re not cool, you´re just pathetic thieves.

Re: GO F2p (SUGGESTION)
You really rather see the game die than implement a cash shop? I've tried plenty of MMOs before coming here (KalOnline, Rappelz, WoW, Runescape, MMU, Tantra, RYL2, Last Chaos, Space Cowboy, FLYFF, Perfect World, Xiah, AO and probably more I don't even remember...) and this one is the most unique, and has the most potential.
There are no other finished MMOs like it, and I doubt there will be for a very long time (there's always tons of games in development that SOUND good until they're actually released, e.g. Roma Victor.)
If you let this game die, you will be stuck with the popular, ever-flowing river of cookie-cutter crap that Korea, Japan, and Malaysia constantly manufacture. Those games sell on novelty and the latest pretty graphics, but they all play the same because they all run on the same engine. They just re-skin 'em and release them again under another name, so yet another wave of suckers will try them and end up playing until they realize that once again, for many different, yet familiar, reasons, that what they're playing sucks and move on to the next one (e.g. Rappelz, who were even sued because their game resembled another game too closely!)
You're going to let this innovative, very cool game die, because you can't stand the thought of some uber kid wanting to play and buying all the cash shop items? I'll admit, a big part of any game is community, but you can still play and so can your friends. You don't need to interact with that uber kid if you don't want to, and because this game relies so heavily on player interaction for just about everything, those types of people will find it very hard to make it here. I doubt this game will even appeal to many of them to begin with because of the heavy focus on crafting and not on grinding your brains out for the highest combat level.
Some people here have already posted some good suggestions for how Ryzom can implement a cash shop that does not affect players in a very meaningful way, e.g. superficial items like outfits, hair, masks, wings, etc. You could also add some things that make the game slightly more convenient, like faster mounts, special teleportation scrolls that do things like summon a whole party to the caster, and other stuff like that (I can't really comment more since I'm only a new player.)
And if the community does go bad in the end, then you can still quit, voluntarily... which is what you're proposing to do anyway without even giving it a chance. The end result is the same, so why not?

What do you think would come out of an item shop but re-skinned, re-specced items, that nobody would buy if they weren't better in some way than what the crafters could supply? This would mean the death of Ryzom as a unique, special game.
Over and out.

Re: GO F2p (SUGGESTION)
Actually, no. Plenty of people buy items that are purely superficial only and not better in stats or bonuses. There are many examples of this in FLYFF, Last Chaos, etc. People enjoy customizing their characters for many reasons, one being it helps with immersion (carbon copies != reality,) and, people are vain (myself included.) I change my hair as often as my mood in RS, and I pay game gold for the privilege; many others would pay real cash.khyle wrote: What do you think would come out of an item shop but re-skinned, re-specced items, that nobody would buy if they weren't better in some way than what the crafters could supply? A cash shop cannot change the mechanics of a game. This is just nonsense.khyle wrote: So you want Ryzom to turn into one of those cookie-cutter games? NO thank you!
This vehement close-mindedness is not helping your cause. Like I said, if the game is going offline anyway, the end result is the same. If the cash shop does save the game, if only for a few months, and you find it unbearable, you can still quit. There is no point to simply saying: OMG CASH SHOP = CHAOS.
