When I visit an NPC I see that I can filter for Q300. From what I understand Q250 is the highest Quality we can get. Why is there Q300 listed? Does it have to do with Outposts? How can players craft a Q300 item if their skill level is only 250?
Players can still only craft up to level 250.
As Xtarsia says, there are mobs over level 250, including the high level bosses.
Nevrax (back then) moved the max level limit for buying stuff to 300, even though there isnt anything that high, because otherwise players couldnt see/buy anything over 250.

What do players do with >Q250 mats? Do they tend to use them for crafting and hope that they increase the chance of success for a Q250 object? Or are they something one would sell to an NPC for an inordinate sum of dappers?

I'm just getting into crafting and will probably not see anything that high for a long time, I'm just curious.

(Assuming you were the right level to craft whatever) you can still only craft an item at the quality of the lowest ql material you use except if it's >250 then it will just be made at q250 since thats the highest crafting level available.

So for example:
(q250 craft plan)5 q220 eyes + 5 q250 seed = a q220 jewel
5 q270 eyes + 5 q270 nails = a q250 jewel

Using higher ql mats doesn't increase the success rate afaik.

I've gotta ask: If >Q250 items can't be created, what purpose do >Q250 mats serve? Do players use them to fill-in when creating Q250 items and can't find a required Q250 mat? :)

The +10 and +20 q mob mats are special named and boss mats. They would likely be used in very good crafted items. 10 = named, 20 = bosses.

So for example a q170 mat would be a boss from a level 150 region, q210 a named from a level 200 region and q270 a boss from a level 250 region. =)

It's only the highest level ones where that the extra ql is wasted really, but thats just how the system works. At least it makes them easy to find in amongst the mess most guild halls. :D

Once upon a time, there was a future for this game... 300+ areas were expected. It was future planning I assume to have this mechanism in place... Sadly, we have been at this cap since release.

teylini wrote:What is the highest level of crafting skill that can be earned? I see that on my character sheet it says "20". However, I am wondering how players craft Q250 items with only that level of skill. If lvl 1 = up to Q10. lvl 2 = up to Q20. Wouldn't you need crafting level 25 to be able to make Q250? Unless you get to take advantage of the next branch on the crafting tree.
Once you reach 20 it splits into various branched of crafting. IIRC at 20, ya level separately in Armor / Jools / Melle and Ranged. If ya take say Armor up from there, it splirts at 50 into Light / Medium / Heavy / Shields. At 100 Heavy for example splits into Boots / Pants / Vest / Helmet / Sleeves / Gloves.

So to get to 250

0-20 in Crfat
20-50 in Armor Craft
50-100 in Heavy Armor Craft
100-250 in individual parts

So that's:

150 x 6 + 100 or 1000 levels to finish Heavy Armor Crafting.
150 x 5 or 750 extra levels to finish Medium Armor Crafting.
150 x 5 or 750 extra levels to finish Light Armor Crafting.
150 x 2 or 300 extra levels to finish Shield Crafting.

So to finish all armors, ya need 2,800 levels. I don't wanna think about how many mats that requires :) .
