You will have top start out by buying the Crafting Start if you don't alreday have it. IIRC that is 50 spell points. Well most of this is IIRC as it's all a few years ago. That gives you Boots plan and skill of 1 allowing you to craft up to level 10. Now if you advance in boots to level 10, you should have about 100 skill points.

So then you have to go out and buy:

Melee Weapon Crafting Skill (25) From Trainer
Melee Weapon Crafting Plan (25) From Trainer
Melee Weapon Crafting Tool (From Toll Vendor)
Raw Materials (Magic Focus, Shaft, Grip)

You can dig the materials (mats) or buy the mats from the raw mat vendor. Typical mats are:

Magic Focus - Dug amber of killed eyes
Shaft - Dug bark or killed bone
Grip - Dug fiber or killed skin.

The Quality Level (QL) of the crafted item will be limited by your skill (Crafting Level 1 means you can craft up to level 10, 2 means 20 and so on) or the quality of the mats. If you have skill 3 and use all level 34 mats except for 1 level 29, the max QL you will get is 29.

What is the highest level of crafting skill that can be earned? I see that on my character sheet it says "20". However, I am wondering how players craft Q250 items with only that level of skill. If lvl 1 = up to Q10. lvl 2 = up to Q20. Wouldn't you need crafting level 25 to be able to make Q250? Unless you get to take advantage of the next branch on the crafting tree.

hehe, theres multiple branches that will expland and open up as you go, all the way up to 250. The Q level goes up in tens for every ten levels.

A long way to go. :)

Thanks ajsuk :)

When I visit an NPC I see that I can filter for Q300. From what I understand Q250 is the highest Quality we can get. Why is there Q300 listed? Does it have to do with Outposts? How can players craft a Q300 item if their skill level is only 250?

because some boss mats and other certain mobs are over level 250, and thus drop higher than Q250 mats
