To be honest i would like a patch that makes it impossible to do, altering the config file is an exploit that should be addressed by the devs.

Altering the cfg file violates the CoC.
Altough I know perfectly how to do, I never changed my cfg file.
Who have changed the file is cheating. Point.
I'd have to give up sound if I didn't edit the config file and was specifically direcetd by GF to do so. Never had to do that until they introduced the background downloader. Many people on Linux and Vista wouldn't be able to play if they couldn't edit the config file.
a) There are legitimate reasons to be able to change the zoom angle - i.e. not having to have you mount's rear end fill mpost of the screen.
b) The are improper reasons for wanting to change the config file - i.e. targeting someone 250 m away.
The simple soultion is to add something in the Game Configuration section IG consisiting of two sliders.
1. Camera Distance - where you can move the slider from left to right say from 0 - 25 in increments of 5. (0,5,10,15,20,25). To my mind there's no advantage here as everythnig one can see on screen even at the highest setting is easily visible on the compass.
2. Camera Stepping - same deal where each click on ya mouse wheel zooms in steps from say 1 - 5.
Now peeps can have reasonable flexibility, don't have to stare at a blow up of a mek's back end and one gains no real advanatge in any manner. You also prevent the peeps from using it to say zoom in at OP battles to target their favorite opponent w/o error.
