I do not think that OP's remotely resemble what the creative minds behind ryzom intended. I think that subject would be better suited for another thread though.
As for fame and OP battles, I see no connection between the two .Fame is a reward for missions that contribute directly to the factions. OP control rewards only Homins and has no effect on the NPC factions. I really don't think the Kami or Karavan even pay attention to who owns what.
Fame and Battles
Re: Fame and Battles
I've long been of the opinion that Cats shouldnt be in tha game at all, if they are going to be available under a revised non OP plan, make them mission rewards and non tradeable. That way if you use them they'll be like a treat instead of just leveling your way to 250 in half the time.iceaxe68 wrote:Crazy idea:
Remove cats from OPs. They can be purchased only from shady characters in back alleys of the larger towns. Maybe call the cat-selling tribe the BALCOs, with a boss NPC named Ba'ry Bonds...
Faction is of no significance, just dappers. Better money sink than wheels, IMO.
OPs produce only OP mats, but in somewhat increased quantity. And more variety. And new plans/patterns to use them.
Thoughts?

Re: Fame and Battles
Cats may be no trade items - so the only one who bought them can use em (not sure is it good for resources).
But I still think idea to make op resources free for controlling guild and dappers payed for other same aligned charaters good idea.

HEEEEEEEEY, Crazy idea: Since cats are available today through PvP (OP BATTLES), How about reinstating the honor points, and having cats being available through pvp that way? One kill = one honor point = One stack of cats.
(TAGGED pvp just so yall know im not trying to gank diggers, but if he digs tagged, dont cry).
Since the healing bug is fixed, it shouldnt be that big of a problem anyway.

Make things so the PvP'ers have to actually talk to NPCs, and maybe pick up some of the story, on their way to 250, instead of treating cats like resource fields in a RTS.

from memory, Cats are purchasable with honor points.tigrus wrote:HEEEEEEEEY, Crazy idea: Since cats are available today through PvP (OP BATTLES), How about reinstating the honor points, and having cats being available through pvp that way? One kill = one honor point = One stack of cats.
.
but honor points/kill was determined by your own level compared to your victims, similar to XP earning. one of the problems was how it calculated the levels - with master diggers and crafters, and CGs ranked the same as AoD's and master melees.. Sure they are equally valuable strategically as targets but their ability to score points in return was significantly lower.. Temple wars was good (from this far away), but there are a lot of ways it could be improved on.
at 1 kill = 1 HoPo = 1 stack of cats, Sunce ( or anyone else) could creat a lowbie alt, grind it to a faction, then nuke it for free cats faster than an outpost can produce them...
not so much a crazy as a bad idea..
Also, with HoPo's you lost some on being killed.
