Of course not. You wish to be independent from their rule, from their control. You are the enemy in their eyes, no matter whether you worship the same as they do.threbus wrote:Does this imply that the Matis will not participate in this battle, since they "now respect our right to build our society as we feel fit"?
They believe their ways are the only true ways, therefore anything else must be false and must be destroyed. They only care about themselves. Anyone else is either a tool to use as they see fit, or an infestation to eradicate.
A wise homin once wrote something along the lines of, "Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it again." We must remember the things that happened in the past to make sure they never happen again, while at the same time looking forward to the future and new things to come.
Unfotunately, the values that the Tryker civilisation holds so very dear means absolutely nothing to the Matis. The looming attack on your outpost shows this so very clearly: even your faith means nothing to them unless they control you. Even the timing of the attack is significant: during the middle of the fight over Loria Stronghold, they would rather divide their forces and try to attack you as well, leaving their Tryker "friends" to fend for themselves in battle.
This is not a call to ally yourself with the Kami or their mysterious ways. This is not even a call to abandon the Karavan and their mysterious ways, either. This is a call to stand for freedom from Matis oppression.
Beware your would-be Matis overlords. They would sooner laugh with you, party with you, and fill you with intoxicating beverages, before filling your mind with lies, with the words you so dearly want to believe are true.
By that time, it is too late. The only escape will be death at their hands, as my parents sadly realized upon uncovering the web of lies woven by the Matis.
What does it mean to be a Tryker? One of the values they have taught me is: "Freedom: Consider all homins responsible and free of their acts. Any homin violating the freedom of another will be in breach of the Homin Rights Act, which as it happens, was first drawn up by the Tryker Council."
The Matis Karavans are in clear violation of the Homin Rights Act. And they flaunt this in the forest, the lakes, the jungle, and the desert, believing themselves to be immune from repercussions.
