Of course not. You wish to be independent from their rule, from their control. You are the enemy in their eyes, no matter whether you worship the same as they do.

They believe their ways are the only true ways, therefore anything else must be false and must be destroyed. They only care about themselves. Anyone else is either a tool to use as they see fit, or an infestation to eradicate.

A wise homin once wrote something along the lines of, "Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it again." We must remember the things that happened in the past to make sure they never happen again, while at the same time looking forward to the future and new things to come.

Unfotunately, the values that the Tryker civilisation holds so very dear means absolutely nothing to the Matis. The looming attack on your outpost shows this so very clearly: even your faith means nothing to them unless they control you. Even the timing of the attack is significant: during the middle of the fight over Loria Stronghold, they would rather divide their forces and try to attack you as well, leaving their Tryker "friends" to fend for themselves in battle.

This is not a call to ally yourself with the Kami or their mysterious ways. This is not even a call to abandon the Karavan and their mysterious ways, either. This is a call to stand for freedom from Matis oppression.

Beware your would-be Matis overlords. They would sooner laugh with you, party with you, and fill you with intoxicating beverages, before filling your mind with lies, with the words you so dearly want to believe are true.

By that time, it is too late. The only escape will be death at their hands, as my parents sadly realized upon uncovering the web of lies woven by the Matis.

What does it mean to be a Tryker? One of the values they have taught me is: "Freedom: Consider all homins responsible and free of their acts. Any homin violating the freedom of another will be in breach of the Homin Rights Act, which as it happens, was first drawn up by the Tryker Council."

The Matis Karavans are in clear violation of the Homin Rights Act. And they flaunt this in the forest, the lakes, the jungle, and the desert, believing themselves to be immune from repercussions.

This is a war between the people of the lakelands, i have no doubt the fyros and zorai would stay out of it if only the matis could do the same.

Love and trust in Our Lady Jena, adherence with her revealed wisdom, is not subservience to the Karavan and certainly not to the Matis. Pero subservient? :D If you knew us at all, you would know that we are subservient to no one, save our beloved Goddess.

I'll reread Faa's declaration but I missed the part where she called for Trykers only to attend. [OOC: that would be an interesting battle - a bit different from the normal :D ] If Faa wishes to attack Aeden Artisans with only Trykers attending, I am sure that Pero would discuss that idea with her. Many Jena years ago, Evolution demanded that the guild versus guild battle between Aeden Artisans and Atys Ghosts be fought with "not a single Matis" in the region. I would be shocked if such arrogant demands would be respected in these later times.

The Burning Desert is a hot and unforgiving place. If the kitins were not trying to eat you, the sun was endeavouring to cook you. It was a harsh land, with a harsh life, but the inhabitants, the Fyros, have learned to survive. Before, long ago, the suns merciless beating would have been unbearable, but now, when it is at its worst, the merely retreat into the many bars and taverns that dot the main cities.

And Pyr was no exception. Main city of the Fyros, it houses an impressive number of bars, with many fyros favouring one over the other. One particular bar was favoured by one particular fyros, who would spend many a time sitting enjoying the finest firewine the bar has to offer. And today, like many other days, he sits in his favourite chair by the fire, staring at it and sipping away at his drink. At first glance, nothing there seemed untoward about this fyros, he seemed like all the other patrons, but indeed, there was something different about him. From the way he sat to the way he seemed to notice all who came in without turning his head, it was clear for all who could see, that this was a warrior of note.

And indeed, he was able to see the tryker as he entered long before the tryker saw him, a wry smile curling at the edge of his lips as he watch the lake lands dweller motion for the barmaid as he headed for the fyros’ table. Without introductions, the tryker sat down and watched the bar maid come over. The fyros did not move.

“Well, sir, what would you like?” she asked as she reached the tryker.
“Well, I would like a…” began the tryker, but the fyros cut him off, reciting from memory the tryker’s favourite poison. Scribbling the order down, the barmaid turned and left, and then the tryker turned to the fyros, smiling wryly.

“Fancy a Kami remembering the order of a Karavan.” The fyros finally turned round.
“We may worship different gods, Riveit, but we still remain friends, eh?” Riveit smiled, nodding slightly in agreement.
“That be true, Sun Ce.”
“So, what brings you here?” The smile faded from Riveit’s face.
“I am sure you have heard.” The fyros nodded.
“Team Spirit have moved against you.” Riveit nodded curtly.
“Yes, they have declared their intentions on our outpost in Loria. I am here marshalling support for the defence of what is ours.” The fyros turned back to the fire, raising his firewine to his lips. A brief silence followed.
“Well?” Sun Ce turned back.
“Well what?”
“Will you help us defend it?” The fyros leaned forward.
“Me?” Riveit nodded.
“Yes, you and all who you command.” Sun Ce smiled.
“Ah, but I am a Kami, as are Team Spirit, and…”
“And you are no longer in the Kami Alliance, but are mercenaries now.” finished Riveit smugly. The fyros raised an eyebrow. Just then, the barmaid returned with Riveit’s drink.
“Thank you.” He said to her, as he paid her. Smiling, she took the money and returned to the bar.

“Not quite, not all of us are mercenaries.” The fyros said finally, as she was out of earshot. Riveit shrugged.
“Maybe not all, but some.” Sun Ce smiled, nodding slowly.
“Naturally, I do not intend for you to fight for free, even though we happen to be friends…” The fyros smirked at this. “…so I am willing to hire you for this battle. What say you?” Before answering, Riveit’s companion downed the last of his firewine, then looked straight at the tryker.
“You have yourself a deal Riveit.” He replied finally, smiling broadly. Riveit smiled in return.
“Good! I will await your numbers in Winds of Muse, then we will march in the defence of our outpost. Till then, take care.” With that, he rose.
“You do now want your drink?” Riveit looked down at it.
“You finish it.”
“Heh, too weak for me.” Smiling wryly, Riveit turned and left as his companion returned his gaze to the fire. No sooner had he left than a tall zorai step out of the shadows and sit in the seat he had just left.
“Do you really intend to take this job?”
“Of course! You do not sound too keen.” The zorai moved to speak.
“You knew what you were getting yourself in for when you left to join me, little side-kick, so buck up.” The zorai smiled wryly behind his mask.
“Ah, what the heck, what can possibly go wrong eh?” The fyros turned to stare at him, smiling.
“I bet you the Alliance will not like this one bit.” Sun Ce smirked, a mischevious glint in his eye.
“Short of Ministry of Mayhem and Omega V, we have no treaty with anybody.” Then looked down at the drink.
“You want that?” The zorai looked down at the drink.
“Heck no! Too strong for my blood.” Throwing his head back in raucous laughter, he reached for the jug and proceeded to down the contents without pause.

Everyone agrees that these are intra-Tryker battles. Lunachic, who leads the Apostles, is also Tryker. Your Matis-bashing is nothing but a smoke screen for Kamist aggression in the Lakelands.

Unfortunatly as a people we are, Riveit. The tennants of our forefather's faith you so proudly cited, are nothing more than the consessions we made not to long ago under the weakling Beadly Nimby with the Matis army in our backyard and with the Karavan's appproval, to keep us in check.

Our true identity and reverence of our Mother-godess has been waning for decades now, as we are being culturally annexed by the Matis, while in the meantime these alien self-proclaimed prophets have done nothing but kept us on a leash since the Great Swarming. If the tales about magnificent Jeniah, at the peak of our culture were even half true, then truely we were free and prosperous Trykers. But no longer do we hold that splendor, instead we have been subdued, kept short of what we once had, patronized as toddlers, pressed into slavery and forgotten who we once were, the Mother-godess' favored children.

I think it's about time we start remembering who we were and what we could become again, that we can feel proud and understand what it means to be a Tryker again, despite our differences in interpretations, instead of being the pawns of Matis, Fyros, Zoraï, demons or overlords alike.

A Tryker forgives, but never forgets.

I too wistfully ponder the past glories of Trykoth, Kyerna. However, we live in a dangerous and precarious era. Just a Jena century ago, Fyros miners searching for lost Dragon technology set the whole Fyros lands ablaze. Was it a vein of Dragon fire they found? Fifty some Jena years ago, Fyros miners, in their interminable quest for Dragon technology, ignited the Great Swarming, destroying much of our past glory. Our world is a precarious one. The only path to the salvation of our peoples is to embrace the Karavan, bath in the love of Jena, and accept her lifting us off Atys when Dragon fire consumes all. I can not blame the Karavan for not trusting us with more powerful technology. For I know, and I think you will admit as well, that Kamist homins would turn that technology against the Karavan themselves in the blink of an eye. Or consider, given the record I mentioned, would it be responsible of the Karavan to give powerful digging technology to Fyros miners?
