Yes indeed. Dealing with her in the past month has been the most pleasurable experience with any PR Person I have ever met or read a post from. She shows true dedication and I think all game companys should invade these forums and take notes. ;)

So whats my big prize? :D

One thing I have noticed when comparing the NA and the German forums is the huge difference in flaming threads. Farox is definitely swamped by the amount of bile he's being thrown at by the Germans. Some of the replies seem to come in a minute rhythm as if there's a siege fest going.

On the other hand there are a couple of "omg this suxx" threads here but they're not nearly as rich in numbers as in Germany. You read more "I'm leaving because but I'll be taking another look later" here which is mucher nicer to read and doesn't cause nearly as much thread war as the first one. Some users come in at 30 posts a day...

When threads are being closed or deleted because of improper use of language or double-posting even more oil is put into the flames. I find it often usefull to stop reading the threads after the first 2 pages because there is nothing of content anymore.

Thus I am asking whether the Farox or the community is to blame.

Poor guy... Hey Cerest, why don't you invite Farox over to the NA community for a while for a vacation or something :-)

Moderating really is a thankless job, isn't it...

As a mod for a fairly large fan site for MMO's I can sympathize. :)

As far as the question asked is the community or the community leader: its both.

Who started the trend I dont know. But has been my experience that its a domino effect. At some point a good community manager has to change the tide if its extremely negative all the time.

As far as these boards go (NA side) Cerest, I believe plays a big part in alot of the useful postive posts made. She has set a tone that is very nice and positive. People feed off positivity and negativity. Its up to the people with the power to try to set that tone.

This may not be the greatest game ever, it might have issues but I for one have a hard time yelling about it when you have someone who is such a pleasure to read their posts and chat with.

I say Cerest for President. :)

I think every game has bugs. Especially at the beginning. And sometimes the company is to blame. Sometimes they are understaffed. And sometimes it is the community griping because things aren't perfect. I don't think there has been a game yet, where people complain it should have stayed in beta. The problem with that is there are many system configurations. Too many to have every single players computer represented in beta. I personally have had no issue with the game. There are bugs sure but i've played alot of MMORPG's and in every game i've played there's always multiple bugs.
This game is at least playable. Have seen many that weren't.The biggest problem i have seen is that there just aren't enough people. Alot of the problems I have encountered are more geared to lower population issues such as finding anything other than newbie crafters(but at least someone is trying to craft). This has been more noticeable with other races than with Matis. So I think it will balance out some once there is some diversity amongst the races.
As far as the German community I can't say. But is there a chance that maybe people want toooo much attention? I can only speak for myself but in reading alot of these "Nevrax please respond" posts, it seems like everyone thinks they will recieve very personalized attention. I would never expect half the attention so many folks think they should for some reason get. I'm sure that these posts are read and taken into account. But maybe there simply isn't enough time to treat everyone like they're God Emperor of Earth. I think alot of it comes down to "Is there really anything to say?". Usually when there is enough information worthy of being passed on it does get passed on by the company.
There is a test server. I read Cerest's comments on the problems of giving everyone access. I can't really agree with them. Almost every MMO has a test server accessible to everyone. There are disclaimers associated with such things. Such as stating it's not a regular play server. No in game help etc. In all those i can think of that have test servers, these servers were always the least populated. I do feel that as a player i should be allowed to have the chance to add my input on a change from experiencing it if I so choose it. I don't , however, feel the game is a rip off because I don't have access to this. At least some players somewhere are giving it some kind of test. But in most games people hardly ever use the test servers anyways even tho the companies beg them to do so. Then everyone gets all mad at a change. I do think everyone should have access to it. If it hasn't been a problem for other games i don't see why it would mystically be one now. While I think Cerest's views are perfectly valid and "could" be the case.Definitely within the boundaires of possibility. Seeing the way other test servers go, I find it very unlikely and in fact would be shocked.

Hi all!

I am a member of the German community.
While reading your mostly sympathetic replies, I felt that I'd need to take up the cudgels for Farox.
At first, it was a completely unnecessary and maybe even childish action of trappa/Merlok to post his thread in your community as well (It was already at his origin...). He propably was overwhelmed by negative emotions to write that mail in the first place, while the result would have looked differently if he had let himself some time to cool down a bit. Maybe because Valium is only available on prescription in Germany :D .
The vast majority of the German community is very happy with Farox, we really appreciate him and the work he does. This applies to all others having to handle us as well, of course, whether they belong to the German community or not, whether their title is CM, CSR, GM or whatever some creative minds had been thinking of. We wouldn't be saying a single negative word about any of them, since they simple give us no reason to.
Many members of our community are of the opinion that frequent feedback from Nevrax concerning current and future issues is not as it could, or maybe should, be, to some extent I even agree with them. Maybe trappa should have given his mail to someone who is capable of communicating in English prior to really sending or even posting it anywhere, now it is only a word-by-word translation of some purely emotional outcry...
Yes, Farox is faced by literal emissions of some inveterates, propably even more than in other communities. Most of the times it's always the same people, as well. Still, he can't be on 24/7 and he really does his best to calm those down. While the "more mature" members have the possibility to restrict themselves to ignoring those ever-repeating posts and threads with mostly ever-repeated arguments, Farox cannot.
Hey, nobody really dislikes constructive criticism. But some people will always overdo and drift into being offending. Maybe they are only begging for some attention and don't know how to do it differently or think they are entitled to, who knows. This is just what happened here...

XoloX ... thanks for giving us the NA community a different look at this.

There will always be more than 1 angle to look at everything and that is probably so in this case. I cant imagine any of the Nevrax team not doing a the best they can ... from top to bottom they seem wholly committed to the game and to the community that follow it.

I couldn't have said it better myself. :) Thanks to those of you in the German community who have posted here and put things into a little perspective. I'm sure that everything isn't flowery and rosey, but I know that Farox is a wonderful CM and is doing the best he can. It's actually quite frustrating that we CAN'T be here 24/7 (It might make things easier ;) ), but we do the best we can and try to make our communities as happy as possible, and hope that it's enough.
