Hoping that Nevrax improves the mechanics is good, but we as players are also responsible for turning the world into what we want it to be.

What is honorable (and its ilk) varies from person to person.

Most of us also can't see much beyond our own nose, so the 'right thing' is generally whatever profits us personally the most at that particular moment in time.

Gcg would give determined new guilds a chance at getting one, remember op's etc are more endgmae not there to be taken after a week ingame.

With alliances basicly newer guilds will never see ownership of an outpost unless say 8 existing guilds in the alliance all left lol.

Gvg would make things more fun, challenging and better for new players willing to work tomwards something. It will be about who can run the better guild and keep more members etc would win. But with current server population as I said before, I don't think its going to become viable...

I dont think a penalty for holding an op for long is fair either, if a guild on their own can work through the problems of holding one for a long time, they should only be beaten bya guild that can prove themselves better not just a penalty for keeping it too long. Without huge alliances it would be easier for one guild to remove a guild form another just due to guilds overeaching in membership etc after a certain size cats just aren't viable for a guild there aren't near enough to go around.

Then dont use the point. Statements you cant justify are just more propaganda.
Well like Sehr I'm not gonna namedrop for the same reasons, but I'd hate to see the point get swept under the rug for "convenience" because we're being polite. There's 2 Fyros and 2 Tryker guilds who hold ops and have less active members than GoJ. Decide for yourself who they are - its not that hard to guess.

aardnebb wrote:Heheh, maybe you personally dont, but how do I know that you have more to use? Simple. When I shop around to buy cats for dappers it's the KA members that always have plenty available to trade.
One effect that you are neglecting is that KA has a different ethic and an efficient distribution system. Cats within the alliance are, to a large extent, considered shared alliance property. Cats are traded constantly. Each guild knows that it is called on share with the rest and needs to keep the crystal drills running. If they don't have cats to trade at 1:1 then they will be staring at some angry allies. Many homins spend alot of time trading cats around to make sure allies have them. Guilds that grow too small to share efficiently give up their outpost to others.

Contrast this situation with the "cats are personal/guild property" system. There guilds have no obligation to trade, so they can turn their drills to mats because they are too busy or too few to trade or playing another game or their guildhall is overflowing, hoard cats for the lean times, have "crystals are for guildies only" policies, trade cats at high ratios between grades, sell cats for large sums, only sell cats for mats, blow off anyone asking for buys or trades, etc. You get the picture.

You know, the more I think about it, the more I see a system where one group of players can control the leveling speed of another group of players as flawed. When one faction, or alliance, can horde a majority of XP enhancing resources, it allows that faction, or alliance to attract new players with faster XP. It also allows for the members of the dominating faction/alliance to gain strength faster than those of lesser holdings, thus cementing an imbalance and making it that much more difficult for the opposing side. Regardless of what faction/alliance holds the dominating share of OP's, the "underdog" experiences a degredation in quality of experience compared to that of the dominating force.

And of course, if there is such a difficulty in gaining members due to a lack of incentive brought about by such an imbalance between factions/alliances, I could see how the "underdog" would begin feeling frustrated with the whole mess. It would seem to me that with the system the way it is now... simply due to the ability to churn out faster levels for more people with a dominating share of the OP resources, the dominating force doesn't even have to be all that good at PvP to maintain their status. What they could potentially lack in skill is countered with numbers and level advantage.

Just something I've been thinking about lately.

*edit* - I am not speaking directly about Arispotle, or the current situation/politics, but rather the concept as a whole.

That's a fact of XP crystals, far from specific to alliances or factions.

If it were pure GvG, the top 28 heaviest PvP guilds would hold the outposts, and eveyrone else would be out of luck, as those top 28 don't even have a reason to share with non-owners.

That would leave small guilds, harvest/craft oriented guilds, low level guilds, and just casual/PvE guilds with absolutely no way to participate and no way to get crystals besides trading lots of materials/boss mats/dappers for them.

As I've said before... if they were to adapt OP's to be a pure GvG system, it would have to be adapted in a manner to allow Guilds of various size/level to participate. That's why the more I think about it, the less likely it is to happen.

I'm beginning to think the best course of action is to completely remove XP enhancing resources from the game. Then there would be no group controlling the quality of play of another group.

If the system can't be adapted to be fair for all playstyles... remove the system. ;)

That's because they are the work of the Dragon. :D

Always did think XP Cats were a BAD thing, I prefer to earn my levels not get them handed to me at double speed. 'Youngsters'* don't know how easy they got it. ;)
