Sorry if I was snide. Don't you see that many people see your own posts as snide, as OOC propagandizing, and as very aggressive?

Personally, I don't see much hope for Cho being 'better' than Arispotle. So long as many people have major toons playing on both servers, they will be inextricably linked. The separate servers very much need separate forums so that they can grow apart.
My PoV has shifted over time. I lament what we lost and I strove to protect it. I was very disappointed with Ep2 and OPs as I watched the community collapse (relative to what it used to be) and the mass exodus of the community/RP oriented players (many of whom seem to have come back for a peek thanks to R2). Ryzom's community is still the best out there, but it could always be better and the fear is always there that it could be lost.

People constantly accuse me of trying to 'force' my views. I can't. There's no way I can do that. I can't make people on Cho play a certain way but I can encourage and support the idea that a fresh start is a fresh opportunity and a chance not to take the same route, to be better. I, on the other hand, and others like me, _am_ constantly forced by mechanics and other people to accept certain things and play a certain way if I'm to get full use of the game I've pinned my banner to.

I don't propagandise for either 'side', I analyse what I see and try to present ways in which it could be better or that we could avoid what seem to be potential incoming problems.

Jy ... The project managers of Nevrax made the decision to push PvP over PvE. My guess is they just dried up on new ideas and went for the easy option.

As much as anyone repeats the same text over and over, it won't change the fact the David's original concept hit the trash can and the bought in consultants, Jessica, pushed PvP. Now Devs are quietly churning out 'other game developers ideas', with only the occasional 'ops never thought about that, better change it quic...slowly', will ever get implemented.

I have given up on what Ryzom was, accepted what it is and am playing the New version on Cho.

PvP has been growing in popularity throughout much of the MMORPG genre. Besides... PvP isn't "easy" to throw into a game. Players must be balanced well enough for PvP and PvE, which can completely change how combat works. EQ2 had to revamp their entire combat system to add PvP to the game. I mean... a complete strip down and rebuild. The whole game felt different after that. I don't know if Ryzom went through such a change in combat when PvP was introduced... if not, I would imagine that PvP was part of the original plan and the PvE vs PvP aspects of combat were prebalanced.

I am speculating, however, since PvP was here long before I arrived.

Welcome to the same thing EVERY game goes through. There is no reason to expect Ryzom would be completely different in every aspect of design. There are features people expect to be in an MMO, whether we like it or not, due to games like WoW which popped a different set of rules into the MMO world. Gotta have what's popular to attract players which will keep Nevrax afloat to develop more original content/concepts.

For a rather dynamic game... I am surprised to see so many people hanging on to original concept, 2 years later. People might enjoy the game more if they acknowledge the past, and move on. :)

I write this with all due respect, I don't mean to cause strife. Just a few thoughts.

I can't answer that. I can only say that PvP is not something Jessica decided to throw in. It was meant to be in the game from the start. Argueing anything else is simply not true.

You know... I think I'm going with Rayne's post too. I don't really feel much like arguing with everyone.

The forums need to start living up to the reputation the Ryzom community has. These boards are starting to reek of the BS of life the game is supposed to provide an escape from.

Sorry for the grumpy post... but I'm getting a little tired of all the arguing.

This version of it didn't go over too well in AO either.
Those who don't learn from the mistakes of the past really are doomed to repeat them.
