We are worse off than slave.
While a slave has the ultimate option to resist and perhaps die, we can not. We can not fight the higher powers, and if we die trying, we will be brought back. And, really, we don't want to try. If, given the choice: 'be slaves or die,' we would all choose to be slaves. You can protest that you would not...simply because it is a pure hypothetical. When the time comes to do the will of a higher power, or suffer oblivion, you will obey.
We can change our alligiance...from one slave holder to the other.
And what is the difference really?
The thought that it is not the higher powers who bring us back is easily disproven. If you are beloved of Maduk, you have one range of kami controlled possibilities to which to be reborn. If you follow Jena, you have a completly different range of Karavan controlled points. If their skills were not neccisary in the proccess, why are they, or thier machines, always involved?
"And you believe, despite knowing that the rest of the entire physical universe is nothing but a series of physical reactions, just pebbles bouncing down a board. The only object in fifteen billion light years in every direction that can choose rests inside the boney bowl atop your shoulders. Right?"
