Didn’t you know your not allowed to talk about things you would like to see in the game?

Didn’t you know that anything you suggest will just be a copy and paste from the game your getting your idea from because apparently neverax do not have their own mind and style, or knowledge of their game or the ability to take a game feature and tweak it to fit with in the game they created?

Didn’t you know that any f4eature your going to suggest will be shot down with these typical responses.

1. WoW.
2. This is ryzom.
3. There isn’t enough resources for anything.
4. The developers do not have time
Point 1, well there _are_ being surgested a lot of things that are in WoW. And to be honest, I don't think a lot of features in WoW would help Ryzom a lot.

Point 2, indeed this is Ryzom, it is different from every other MMORPG out there. It would be nice to keep it that way and not just copy and paste features from other games. I very much agree on the sneak skill, it would ruin part of the game Ryzom is now. Actuly I think getting somewhere already is too easy, especialy now there are many high level players and you can blast your way through any area with just a few players.
I would rather have a level 300 or maybe even 350 area, give us a new chalange instead of making the game easier.

I can, to some degree agree with point 3 and 4 being said quiet often. However currently they are very true, surgestions can however be saved for a time the devs do have time.

So allow me to add my list.

1. Real player houses in the REAL world (R2 dosnt cut it)
2. Player clothing options.
3. More mounts.
4. Food items.
5. More options in armor color (That the crafter shooses not the Materials you use).
6. More face, hair, and body options.
7. Entertainment skills such as dancing ETC...
8. Some form of taming skills tree.
9. Guild halls.
10. More events.
12. More later...
1. We do have apartments, improved furnishing would rock though :)
3. I don't know, it would be nice, but I currently don't see a lot of other creatures that would be fit to use as mount.
5. I'm all for more armor colors, but keep them determined by the materials, at least to some degree. Just letting the crafter choose the color would ruin part of crafting.
8. I'm not sure how this could work out in Ryzom, but its something to think about.
9. We have guild halls.
10. There are events almost every week. Ofcourse it would be nice, but the event team needs time to make new coffee ;)
All others sound alright to me :)

Things I would like to see:
Boats, we have mounts for the land, let us move fast in the water too!
Ability to make a campfire, to be made from materials we can dig ourselves.

You missed my point.

These "Reasons" are given only to stifle or dismiss any talk about improvements or wants for the game.

And apparently, No idea from any other game can be here...nope...nada. Like i said...because apparently...

"anything you suggest will just be a copy and paste from the game your getting your idea from because apparently neverax do not have their own mind and style, or knowledge of their game or the ability to take a game feature and tweak it to fit with in the game they created"

If you didn’t catch the sarcasm ..I’m sorry.

Instead of using the standard "I don’t wish ryzom to evolve" quote. People should comment and discuss what is good, and or bad about some ones suggestion, and then discuss how something of its nature could be added to the game in a way that fits well.

I thought it was the nature of a discussion forum. And this posting.

The elitism here is astounding at times.

I also would enjoy boats.... But UO has them and so does vanguard...so I guess that idea is out.

Campfireas also... But...isnt that SWG? (mabye others).. I guess that also is out.

Isn’t it?

To quote myself
Most MMO's have at least ...well... TONS of things in common with each other.. That not copying, or is it conforming, because each puts its own spin on things.. Such as Ryzoms skill based system.. that a common.. but the difference is the stanzas and making your own actions.

Why are people thinking that they would just straight copy?

Seems to me so far they have done a great job of incorporating things into this game and making it its own.

If you really want to be real about it… There is really nothing in ryzom that hasn’t been done before.. or is truly unique… It’s the sum of the differences that they used to make it their own that makes ryzom unique.

The size of the development team is a very real issue. IMO, all suggestions should evaluated by this: What does it add to the story and/or playability of the game and how much time/energy will it take to implement the feature. If it happens to be something that's in WoW, I don't care. It'll end up becoming part of our unique community and be used in it's own unique way, so it's ok.

1. As threbus said, simply improving the existing apartments so we could invite guests in and maybe add some customization to it would be more than enough for me. Actually having my own house sounds good in theory, but I don't want to spend a bunch of time maintaining a house ingame. I've already got a real house for those headaches.

2,5,6. These types of customizations would be nice, but wouldn't really change the game or story much. So, unless it's an easy change, I'd recommend against it.

3. As much as I'd like MORE of something, I'd prefer it be something we have to earn in some way.

4. Food? Do you mean items I can eat/drink to gain some bonus? We already have flowers for that. Do you mean food I have to eat/drink on a daily basis? Sounds like a chore. I don't see the advantage in terms of story or playability.

7. Entertainment skills - well, I'm not a veteran of other MMO's, so I guess I don't have a bunch of assumptions about what this means so I'll pass on offering any opinion. How would this affect the story and/or playability of the game? If you can't provide details without simply referencing your previous game, then I would say this idea is just a copy and let's pass on it. But if you can detail how it would benefit this world, then it could be considered.

8. Taming - might be fun, but would love to see more detail on how that would actually fit into this world and not just how it was used in other worlds. Would these be pets just for fun? OK, but not worth a lot of dev time. Would they be for additional storage/transportation? How is that better than just giving us more Mektoubs? Would they be combat assistants? This I don't want. If I want a combat assistant, I call for another homin. If want the machine to fight alongside me, I play Dungeon Seige.

9. Already have guild halls. I'd love to see some customization options for them, but it's a minor thing. Maybe some form of guild-owned, personal storage space; i.e. like a locker. That way a guild crafter could make something for someone else that isn't online and they can pick it up at their convenience without having to call for a H.O.

Ofc its out! how dare you even think to put an idea from another game in Ryzom!!! have you lost your face?!?!? what is with you people! always wanting to "add" stuff to a MMO! you must be crazy to think that Devs are there to add Idea's!

Don't you know that all good games >NEVER< use ideas from other games!

Full reply in a minute with actual ideas on how to do some of these things and what to do with them...

...but... you'll find many of us very defensive of what we DO have here in Ryzom and very much afraid of losing that uniqueness and special character.

While the game would be improved by many 'standard' additions to MMOs Ryzom always seems to have been better served by decent innovation rather than copying others. That unique character needs to be preserved.

That said, I think there are 'Ryzomy' ways to add many of these things to the game and to incorporate them with either greater ease than you might think or with a twist to make them more interesting.

Hey, lighten up a little, won't you? I'm sorry if I contributed to the pessimism. Wouldn't it be a pleasant change to have a thread with a few flights of fancy and fewer bulleted points and counterpoints?

While implementation is limited by dev staff numbers and financial budgets, your imaginations are not limited. Please post as many ideas as you can.

russnpam wrote:I didn't see this in the immediate area, and while bug fixes and the Scenario Editor are the orders of the day, I thought it would be a good idea to open the platform for new feature requests. I notice there are alot of things missing on the abilities list in Ryzom, such as Stealth, Backstab, Heals over Time (the 200 HP in 10 second kind, not Metabolism), invisibility and other utility spells (while they may already exist i've not seen them in my short time here). Anyways, what spells, powers, or abilities, or new features such as (jumping, flight, new mounts ect) would you like to see in Ryzom in the future?
Regarding stealth...
It is a valued PLAYER skill to be able to sneak around creatures by knowing their aggro ranges and so forth. I think it should be possible to make this a little easier using a skill tree and I do think the one area Ryzom is lacking in is Ranger/Rogue type skills.

My suggestion for this would be a hunting skill tree, incorporating the stealth skills within it and this could also be given a minor PvP effect.

The current aura powers generally have six levels, each level increasing the time length by which the power has effect. The stealth skill would reduce the aggro range of creatures by 5m for that time duration. 5 seconds to 30 seconds and would also make you invisible on radar for that duration. This would allow organised groups to sneak attack somewhat during PvP battles and would give a slight, but not huge, advantage to sneaking.

I would apply the same effect (reduced aggro range) for WALKING rather than running, without any special skills.

Backstab
Fighting in Ryzom can already detect the front-arc of creatures, as we've all experienced when fighting Zerx and other spitting creatures I'm sure. It shouldn't be too hard then to detect when we're NOT in the front arc and are in the back.

I seem to recall old lore talking about the Tryker being a wee bit tasty with their daggers but daggers are an unimportant weapon in the current game, largely due to the high stam cost of using them with boosted abilities. Adding a 'backstab' function to daggers only would increase their utility, perhaps giving double damage by incorporating backstab stanzas at approximately the same cost and effect as the increase damage stanzas. Daggers could then, in rear attacks, effectively quadruple their damage.

This would have to be coupled with the long awaited 1h modifications which, if I were doing them, would have approximately half the scaled bonuses that the 2h weapons got, for the same types. 1h weapons would also use half the HP/Sta of 2h weapons and daggers would use 1/4.

I think these changes would make the rogueish backstab artiste a viable character build.

Heal over Time
This I don't think we really need, we do have regeneration boosting and HP boosing in the shape of flowers at the moment. I'd just expand that to include roleplay/food items as well.

Invisibility
Doesn't fit within the context of Ryzom, save perhaps as some Karavan device. Be happy with stealth :P

Jumping/Flight
I can take it or leave it. At the moment some terrain is annoying. There IS a limited third dimension, we seem to be able to move up and down in towers, slopes, tunnels etc but it would take a lot to do it. If it were coupled with diving and flight (via flying mounts or something) then it would maybe be worth it but I imagine it would be a GIGANTIC hassle to add this dimension of movement fully and it just isn't worth it on a cost/benefit analysis.

Mounts
These are hardly used already so I don't really see the benefit in adding more. It should be relatively easy to add mounts that use the same base skeleton as the 'toubs though, like gnoofs say, but this would be purely cosmetic. Time would be better spent, IMO, finding a better role for mounts than currently exists, though I have nooooo idea what that might be or how to encourage it... maybe allow pistols to be used from Mek back? I don't know.. something.

I do think water mounts, as pictured in some concept art/screenshot would be a godsend in TRyker however, BUT I think that any water mount would actually have to be amphibious just with the land/water speed reversed.

Another option would be to have a regular automated ferry vessel running from city to city through the water in Tryker, based on the boat design I remember seeing in the concept art. If you can tie character movement to the movement of their 'footing' without problems.

An alchemy/consumable crafting branch was supposedly in the works at one time.

I hardly see flowers (the current consumables) getting used at all though the easter eggs were good, if buggy (they disabled the power they emulated).

Perhaps alchemy would be a good thing to use 'mission mats' for :)

I'd rather see something with some RP utility like food and drink props that were ALSO consumables though.
