So vary the movement of the sources by the grade of the material too. Basic never moves, Fine moves a little, Choice moves on the order of 50-100 meters maximum every move. Excellent moves upto 300 meters away, and Supreme can move wherever in the same region.

I think it would make digging more enjoyable in general for diggers.

Crafting is a different issue, leveling crafting is manufacturing, not crafting. True crafters should be able to level more effectively. Missions that requested specific stats, giving the desired result results in more XP. I have many longwinded posts on this subject.

Interestingly enough, with the shift, I managed to have a more productive harvesting trip than I have so far. *grins* Then, I'm still <100 harvesting, and was out at the Kami Circle area harvesting. I pulled in 100+ sap, almost 100 shafts, a bunch of oil, etc.

This might have everything to do with my chaotic style of harvesting. "Hey, what's here!"

I still haven't gotten to the point where I go to known spots and just dig. Still too much to explore for me to sit still that long.

to me, asking that the supreme sources move from their established positions sounds like an attempt to invalidate the knowledge and expertise of the veteran diggers ( which number does NOT include me ), sort of dragging down the highest instead of putting in the effort to get there yourself.. like that ~person~ who was suggesting a server reset a year ago.

If someone has put in the time and effort to learn where the most valuable resources are, and how to reach them, then good on them. I know high level digging has the tools to find spots even if they are shifted, but the game should reward PLAYER knowledge, more than character stanzas..

I think I disagree. By knowing someone, I can know very single supreme mat location in a certain zone. Is that character knowledge?

I personally have a map of every supreme source in Nexus by season. I also know which weather(s) it is up in, and when the weather changes which mat to go to because that mat is now up. Now, I had a lot of fun doing that because it is my thing, but most people would not do that.

I can take that info and give it to anyone that I want, and then they have the "character knowledge" is that fair to everyone else?

I personally would have no issue with stuff moving. Much as most high level diggers hate that Sup and Exc mats fill at season change. It is not very real. It takes away most chance of finding what you need at any time, and promotes "farmers" myself included.

thebluer wrote:Since the last patch my choice digging spots contain other materials and the ones I need, I can't find anymore. Usually I had a digging area in Dyron and one near Thesos. On both spots I can't find any sap or any oil within 500m. Didn't check other places yet though because I got a bit pissed :)

Does anyone know if that's considered a bug or is intended?

Not sure about the bug or intention, however I had just checked in Dyron and all the mats are where they were. I have found that if I change from choice to fine or any other than I do get different mats in my normal places.

Good luck with that...

Heh, If they made them move around all the time I would never get 250 dig even if I stayed in game for 10(RL time) years strait :p ... I hate digging enough already, and I really don't like searching for it... 1 time search is ok but if I had to do it all the time I would never dig even when I was bored :P

[edit[ and to those who know me... yes sometimes I do dig if im REALLY bored.[/edit]

Hey Red, I'm right there with ya and perhaps this is the reason I am only a 170 digger and I've been in game since just after beta in 2004

There would be one thing that might, just might, get me to accept shifting mat sources and that is if it were to be combined with indicators in the landscape that would give a clear indication of not only the presence of a source but also the type of mats the source contains. nothing too obvious but still clear to the observant digger.

Perhaps we could even link the sources to "the living planet" so the mats "grow" and a skilled harvester could see how far along a source is an roughly how long it'll take to grow back...

But even if the sources were to move around I'd suggest they cycle through a limited number of locations having them move all over the place in an unpreditable way will seriously hinder the crafters.

While moving sources may seem fun to the allready "Masters of the Universe" but it will be frustrating for newbies and that is one of the mistakes all too many MMO's make...Adding high level content is one thing to do it at the expense of new playings is suicide (also see Phat Lewt)...

This just brings me back to the same ole where are the changes scenario. Seriously, they have fixed up the Island to intice new players and thats great, they are adding the ring (more money) to pick and choose friends and even though R2 is cool we get nothing for it.

But what they are lacking is keeping the ubers happy, lets face it this is one of the coolest games ever and even the newer games out there aren't even close to SoR. But how about some new ideas for us? New lands, new powers or weapons, new mobs and perhaps a new race from some forgotten land?

Seriously I have been playing this game a long time and am yet to see a new mob, sure they add a patch now and then to fix some of the challenges and it was cool when we could ride the mektoub mount. But cmon give me something new for my character and everyone elses that will benefit us, unlike the OP's that have torn us apart. Well I actually like the OP's but thats besides the point.

Ok ok I'm done with that, not sure if I feel any better so I better let it go. Sorry if I got carried away...

'Ubers' got outposts, and Ryzom already has some legs from the sheer amount of levels available. 'Ubers' of a different sort are also going to get Kitin nest, and then there's spires. So... yeah.

New lands? People already think the game is underpopulated, spreading us out further doesn't seem to me to be a good idea. R2 is, in effect, a lot of little new lands too.

New powers? Well, hopefully if we start getting more ency missions, there's already a couple in there.

New weapons? OPs brought them. Kitin nest mentioned it too.

New mobs? That feels like new for new's sake but we've seen the new Kami and Kara models.

New race? They'd have to be neutral I think, or against everyone else somehow, and is there really much need? There's supposed to be dark Matis somewhere I suppose. This could spread people thinner again though, bare that in mind.

Some new stuff would be a good idea but things like this have some serious consequences.
