Sources moved?

Post by thebluer »

Since the last patch my choice digging spots contain other materials and the ones I need, I can't find anymore. Usually I had a digging area in Dyron and one near Thesos. On both spots I can't find any sap or any oil within 500m. Didn't check other places yet though because I got a bit pissed :)

Does anyone know if that's considered a bug or is intended?

On some places the sources moved a bit. In Enchanted Isle the resin I harvest moved a couple of meters. Yesterday (or was it wednesday?) there was a motd that they were aware of it and would be fixed soon(tm).

that would be great if i didnt think about it too deeply :) but a lot of the mats in pr are placed very exactly, often with the more desired ones somewhat hard to get so moving them around might cause some imbalances.

nice thought though ;)

I'd quit the day they'd make sources dynamic unless it would be much easier to find exactly what you need. As it is now, after digging for maybe 3 months, I still havent found all the Ex materials I want - even though the sources are static.

fire up 500m prospecting with excellent only, desired material only and it finds _exact_ location for said material... if it's in 500m range from you... if not, move few hundred meters and hit prospect again.
only way to make it easyer is to automatically put flag on your map with flashy big letters.

dont have those toys yet ? level some ;-)

(yeah, it might be funny for dynamic sources, but fun does not last long when you digging mats for your craft lvl's)

If it is ever made a feature, it should be linked to the level of the zone.

Mats in the level 50 zones, around the capitals, shouldn't move at all. The new players have a hard enough time finding them already, with their 5 meter range and 20 degree angle, and 50 meter tracking.

Mats in the 250 zones can be shuffled all over the map. The master foragers, as said, have 500 meter tracking for only the material they're looking for.

aggree completely, and would at least make tracking again a usefull skill to invest in. Not like it is now, just ask an other digger where the spots are, map them et voila you are set (no searching, no tracking, no challange except finding the right time/weather).

hehe, that's easy, just move the nasty mobs as well ;) Or just swap which spot has which desired supreme mat. Problem solved. :p

Im not really a digger, but done loads of mining in SWG...

I agree with the comments that local spots, i.e. round towns, or even town regions shouldn't be moved...

However, agree that the best mats should not stay in one spot for months on end, when your a top lvl digger it shouldn't take long to locate (going by the above 500m statement) so having them swap around yearly (ig) seems logical to me.

I used to love hunting around on my speeder for stuffs in SWG.

/shrug, what do it know, im only a wee ele :)
