I saw the question asked on the Vault and figured I come here and see if you can give us an offical response. Somehwere I saw that if you deactivate your account and its inactive for 90 days you will lose your cd key and characters. Is this a just in case that was put into the EULA or is this something that Nevrax will be enforcing from the get go?
Not that myself or anyone is planning on leaving but sometimes real life happens. And just wanted to see if we could get this clarified somehow. Thanks in advance for anything you can say on this subject.

Re: Dear Cerest! :D Quick Question. :)
I could understand losing characters but losing your cd key seems a bit too arsh if its true
Re: Dear Cerest! :D Quick Question. :)
I dont have an answer to the original question, but I remember with Asherons Call 2 you lost your CD key too, which is probably one of the reasons the population for that game is so low now
Personally I dont mind losing characters but I refuse to purchase a new CD key if I lose that too, and yes I dont mind reactivating an account to play a game again after a break.
Anyway, this doesnt affect Ryzom for me since I doubt I'll be leaving any time soon

Its the same with Planetside, and Earth and beyond (discontinued sadly ) both of them let your account be inactive for 90 days than they delete the characters so it doesnt take so much space or something. Im not sure about the cd key though ive never actually let my mmorpg accounts run dry, I either quit or play
Re: Dear Cerest! :D Quick Question. :)
Heck I've played the games mentioned about and with AC2 I left for about a year and came back and all my characters were still there, planetside after about 8 months I went back and my characters were gone but account name (which is linked to your cd key) was still active. Not sure if they changed there plan or what, but I really don't believe any company would deactivate your cd-key so you have to buy a new one, quite frankly I don't really think they could do that anyhow, so my guess is someone just either started this rumor on the "Questions" board to peeve people off that haven't gotten the game yet, because I've never read this anywhere.
Re: Dear Cerest! :D Quick Question. :)
It's not a rumor, I read it somewhere along the way during install, either on the main page during signups or while installing.
FFXI does something similar. If you cancel your "portal account" (I forget the name of it), your cd key become invalid after a few months, and you'd need to buy a new disk. They have the player base to do this and survive, this game doesn't.
I hope that they waive this rule here, since I like to take extended breaks from my games, and come back at a later time especially since alot of us will most likely be trying out WoW and EQ2.

Regardless of how many other games have the same or similar policy, it still SUCKS!
Starting with EQ in 1999 I have played 4 MMORPG games before Ryzom, and in 3 of them I have taken a break that would have resulted in a lost CD key under this apparent policy. So, now that I have already been lured into this game I guess I just have to realize that when the inevitable need for a break comes that it will be a permanant break with no possibility of returning. (I WILL NOT under any circumstances pay for the game twice!)
I can promise you one thing. If I had known of this policy BEFORE I spent $50 on this game I would NOT have done so in the first place!
I really need to hear an official statement that either this policy is indeed rumor or that it is being changed, lest I feel it necessary as a matter of conscience to warn others of this policy becasue I do not believe that they should be scammed just because I was.

Unless Nevrax have this written on the box then it would be illegal of them to make the game unplayable by voiding the cdkey.
They wouldn't be so stupid.

Re: Dear Cerest! :D Quick Question. :)
You will never loose your cd key and your characters are guaranteed to stay put for 6 months. The unregister page still has the old guidlines that Nevrax had adopted where you would lose your cd key after 90 days (I believe that's what's there, I haven't unregistered ). These have, thankfully, changed to what I've stated above.slaval28 wrote:I saw the question asked on the Vault and figured I come here and see if you can give us an offical response.
