Re: Dodge / Parry
Is dodge/parry damage type dependent?
Months ago, while being max dodge, I remember it was much faster to get out of Matis doggies having a dagger in hand and going on parry where I was like 170 only. I repeated the experiment in Maiden Grove a bit later and the same: max dodge didn't work as good as 170-200 parry against torbaks there. Was it only an impression?

It is not damage type dependent.
However, I think a dodge/parry of 170 will be exactly equal in effectiveness to a dodge/parry of 250 when fighting lvl 50 creatures. I don't know exactly where the point is, but you hit a maximum chance to avoid when you get high enough over its level (you also hit a minimum chance to avoid if you're far enough below a creaures level)
So, with chances being equal, it could easily just have been strings of good/bad luck that made it seem one was more effective.

Re: Dodge / Parry
About parry being capped at 300, it is technically capped in so much as you wont get any more than 60% chance of parrying a lvl 250 person/mob but against meleers with adversary parry stats your parry is lowered so having a parry of 320 will unsure even when fighting a person using a -20 parry vrs weapon your parry chance wont drop below 60%

That 60% is compared to an attack of lvl 250. A master meleer using the appropriate accurate attack stanza actually atacks at an equivalent of lvl 280, so parry beyond 300 helps more than just negating adv parry mods.

Re: Dodge / Parry
How did'ya work that one out? A lvl 250 meleer surly is a lvl 250 meleer, i notice very little difference in hitting a lvl 250 melee using a lvl 250 accuracy (altho there clearly is some)sehracii wrote:That 60% is compared to an attack of lvl 250. prolly one to discuss ingame
Edit- is there an equation for it that your working off to get the equivalent of lvl 280

Re: Dodge / Parry
Read the accurate attack stanza definition. It says it raises your attack 30 lvls, if using the approriate level stanza.kyesmith wrote:How did'ya work that one out? Re: Dodge / Parry
the description has been changed a few times but i can say 100% its inaccurate if it states dodging (and from memory it does)..
I've been playing with plants recently, the ones in HoP parry not dodge and with no accurate attack i cant hit them for toffee, but adding a few levels accurate and my hit ratio jumps to 80-90%
