I am a bit surprised by all the complaints of not knowing what the mainland will be
As far as I can tell, many experienced players have been very helpful with information. And believe me, you guys do get info these days we had to go and discover for ourselves.

I think many felt like I did; confused, awed, and curious to go push the known borders. We stuck with it, and we think it is great for the most part

Oh its not that we dont want to explore and whatnot.. its just that its nice knowing what you are buying before you buy it, most of the time.. If i was say, thinking that I paid for the kind of game that this island is showing itself to be, and the actual game was different, then its not what i paid for, sort of thing.. see.

I would like to know how the game plays off noob island. I do enjoy it enough to pay the 15 bucks to find out, though. My real concern is, knowing the noob island is brand new content, I am worried that the game will be very different once I leave.

When SWG released the NPE it was pretty cool, but it wasn't a good representation of the game beyond it. Noobs would sign up after playing the new content and be disappointed once they got out in to the real world. Quests dried up, PX was considerably slower and the population was sparse at best. Those are really the concerns I have here. It would be nice to have the option of checking out the actual game a bit without having to activate the three accounts at my house to do so.

Let me first say that I haven't even finished downloading Ryzom yet, let alone played it.. but I want to comment on this...

Take this example; You goto the store and see a copy of WoW for sale.. You buy it because you've heared it was good.. Now, you install it and sign up.. whoops, they need your credit card.. so you pay, because your curious as to what the game is actually like..

How is that ANY different then the free tiral offered in this game? The only difference I can see is that Ryzom actually gives you "unlimited" free time to play, experience the game, meet people, etc.. before you shell out 15$ a month.. That's *ALOT* more then most games ont he market give..

The fact that people are actually complaining about a *FREE* trial boggles my mind.. its truly mind blowing

Actually, Jacend, most mmorpg's give you a timed trial that lets you access most of the game content (or as much as you can manage to reach in that timeframe.) Usually if one required me to give a CC before trying it out, i would not try (because at the time I didnt have a CC to give them) - Most single player games end up having demos to try them out. But even WoW has a trial period, though you have to get it off someone who has the game already (each box comes with a trial account registration code)

While you are semi correct here.. you kinda pointed out what was my main point... that I failed to make cause I suck You have to actually BUY most games... WoW is currently selling for ~45$ plus tack on another 20-45$ when the expansion is released... Sure, you might get a free month.. but it cost as much, if not more, of 2 months of playing... Ryzom is *FREE* ... I'm downloading the client as we speak.. I didn't have to shell out 50$ for the box...

Eep. *knows what happens to free games, in terms of community*

Hopefully it won't be perceived as such by the free-game-haunting masses, since it's attached to a pay-to-play game...

I actually do this because I love this game and I maybe a Fanboy for that, but I´d realy like it to survive another few years.

Download some of the stuff, if you haven´t allready done it, and then decide if you like what you see.

I misunderstood then Sounded like people were complaing... But as for the WoW, I know there is the free trial key.. BUT, after the key is up you will need a new CD key.. which is going to require you to buy the game So yes, you get 15 days free if you download the client... but after that, you STILL nee to shell out the 50$ or so... hence costing much more then Ryzom does at this point Tho this has sense become irelevant to your arguments... lol
