The problem isn't really the Outposts, it's that the goodies are all hooked into PvP. There needs to be an 'alternate revenue stream' for the Outposts and something different for the builders.
R2 should satisfy the builders somewhat, especially if it continues to expand the possibilities of what can be built, so that's covered I guess, even if it isn't the 'real world' (customisable guildhall options and customisable apartments with invites would be a good next step).
If R2 gives access to crystals via the storylines etc that'll help somewhat as well.
The non PvP access to Crystals etc could certainly be slower and perhaps could be missions drive. Either OP mats and flowers could be added to the faction temples and faction 'score' from missions etc be used to purchase them or, perhaps we could add 'Imperial/Royal/Temple/Federal Treasurer' NPCs with special missions that provide such things with a similar investment of time/energy that it takes to get an OP item but with the added inconvenience of having to do a mission.

Re: Dear Players (OP related)
13 pages is a lot of reading. I may be a noob but i get the basic idea. as far as pve ability to get the "good stuff", an op that is taken by doing missions and crafting wouldn't work, as the pvp guilds could also compete for the ops.a 4 man guild shouldnt hope to be able to hold an outpost against an army. however this does not mean that a 4 man guild shouldn't hope to be able to gain the good stuff.
as far as pvp outpost battles, there are many options, but none of them really viewed as "fair" since the european and US servers are the same server. Perhaps having european time OPs and american time OPs? Weekend only battles would leave no need for a guild to defend their OP during the week. Would be great if many small guilds could fight under a united banner, but that would also mean the large guilds could do the same.
how about making OP battle Alliance vs Alliance and if a single guild can hold one, then more power to them, but make it to where an alliance can only hold but a couple of OPs, and the guilds would have to split the goods. Ok so its probably not the best idea, but i could see it working. considering how many guilds there are in the game, and most likely not nearly as many OPs, AvA might be a better option. 20 4 man guilds could match up to 4 20 man guilds.
Sure you're probably thinking, "what would stop you from just joining an alliance?" Simple! the alliance that is holding an OP would have to share the goods with everyone in the alliance, this would have more guilds getting the goods, which means a particular guild gets less goods which spreads them out better. also an alliance that is holding an OP wouldn't want to add in more guilds because of losing some of THEIR goods to a guild that didn't help win it, in turn they would join an alliance that doesn't have an OP in hopes of taking one. if the alliance kicks a guild, all hell will break loose, not to mention enemies will be made. perhaps the alliance that takes an OP won't be able to kick guilds until they lose the OP. I will leave it to a dev to figure out how that would work.
PvE content for the good stuff, thats another tough one. all that comes to mind would be raids and such. like has been said before, pve OPs would eventually be a source of trouble as someone would eventually figure out how to hang onto that OP for long long periods of time and if you set a time limit, they will whine about it. best i can really think of, is have extremely difficult time consuming missions that wind up giving some of this stuff out as rewards.
also AvA OPs would be great because then american and european guilds could form alliances to keep the OP well protected better. hey, how ya like that idea?

Re: Dear Players (OP related)
I have been thinking recently about OP's. Personally i am a PvPer and like the setup, but i also feel for the players who dislike PvP, so what i thought up was the following;
1. You have 2 types of OP; 1 of which would be a PvP Op, the other be a non-PvP Op.
2. The non-PvP op could be kept by producing what is asked for that particular week, for example a set of q250 LA or so many mats. If say the OP doesnt receive the giving in that week, another guild is open to produce the giving and take the OP.
3. The different types of OP give different mats, so the PvP op holders would have to trade with the non-PvP OP's, thus creating more economy between the 2 types of player.
-----------------------------------------
Also i believe players who have crafting and digging skills to a high lvl should have more of a part to play in the OP battles, maybe make the attacking side have to attack a building, and say the diggers dig mats, and the crafters craft to repair the buildings.
-----------------------------------------
These are just thoughts, a bit bare, but im sure you get where im coming from.

I like this but with one little extra rule...
If you hold one or more PvP OPs, you cannot hold a non-PvP OP.

Re: Dear Players (OP related)
Hello everyone,
As a member of VeniVidiVici (Vx3) a Neutral guild and a person who dislikes PvP totally I would like to see more done for the none PvP players. We have a very small q50 OP and because we are a Neutral guild we have choosen to pass out the q50 crystals to anyone who can use them for skills below 50. Of course this is limited to the output of the outpost and how many are wanting crystals each week.
Most of the members of Vx3 are harvesters and crafters. We chose not to do PvP but we will defend our OP and help our allies defend their OP's. We do level our other skills in guild hunts and with other guilds as we can find groups.
When I started playing this game it was everyone working together helping each other. Then OP's were brought into the game and people left in droves. Not only ones from Vx3 but from many other guilds. Slowly we are trying to build up our guilds again and we keep hoping that the developers will bring back into the game the fun we had when we first started playing. We need more content and things to do or slowly Ryzom may fade away.
I for one would hate to see this happen to Ryzom as I find it to be a great well rounded game for those who like to Fight, do magic, harvest and craft. Maybe introduce some new types of harvesting items and crafting skills. Give the higher end players something to look forward to.
When you reach 250 in everything then what? Some of these players are bored with Ryzom and talk of leaving and this is sad to see happen as they have a lot of experience to offer to the new players of this game as well as the older players.
Well these are just a few thoughts from a semi new player (I didn't start until after beta was over a few months).
Hugs,
Lurena

not 250 in everything, but as of last night, i decided to leave Ryzom, or just have a very long break, my Subs are paid until January, so i will wait and see what happens, but i will do this by reading the forums and using Klients, i wont be logging into the game anymore as the truth is, the boredom is killing me.
I love this game, but surely the point of a game is to have fun?

They have been trying to lure new players and totally left us out. R2 means nothing to me or the storyline and I am wondering if $15 is worth the folks I rarely get to see since I am so bored... So far I keep subscribing, but if content beyond what is planned isn't added soon the 2 year anniversary will be a turning point for many of us.

Re: Dear Players (OP related)
I wouldn't say that you have totally been left out, Ryzom Ring will be available to you as well.
They may not be adding high level content to keep the veterans happy at this time, but that doesn't mean they won't. But something should be kept in mind...
Games like Ryzom require a constantly renewing/growing subscription base to afford the developers the staff needed to keep adding content to the game. If Ryzom only ever had X number of players... why keep developing the game? Why not develop something more profitable?
I wouldn't have checked out Ryzom if I hadn't read about RR first. It is what attracted me to the game, and one of the reasons I have been telling everyone I know about it. It's not even in BETA yet, but I have subscribed to Ryzom so that when it is released, I have a good handle on the game.
It is important for Nevrax to remember the veterans and develop endgame content to keep the existing high level characters happy... but they must also keep attracting new people to the game, or it will wither and die as the veteran players eventually grow old and pass to the otherlands.
Just my 2 cents

Yeah I completely agree, I've been here forever now but dont have a huge problem with the way things are going. The way I see it the Ring will (hopefully) increase subs dramatically, thus increasing the size of the development team.
This in turn will mean that once R2 is released, they can go back to fixing bugs and developing new content. All the people that complain about the lack of new content seem to forget that the ring on one hand was made for the players to create there own, but on the other was created to make creating permanent new content easier for the devs.
So roll on R2 is all I can say.
Then they can increase the lvl cap to 300, and i can spend all my time wishing id levelled axe craft as well as axe like last time, cause no one can can craft what I need
