Dear Players (OP related)

Post by soulsnatcher »

Dear players

After seeing the incredibly mature way you have handled the current OP situation, the threads you have started and abused or turned into flame wars will be removed. They will continue to be removed while this current situation exists. Discussions are being held as to changes that may need making but in the meantime forum rules will be enforced. Enough is enough, seriously. Talk about it in a mature way by all means, but keep it that way. I'll leave this thread open for mature debate so you don't think we are closed to this discussion.

May I ask what current options are being discussed? I would be fascinated to find out what the Devs are considering.

May I ask why the threads where removed rather than locking them. I have seem much worse just locked. Some people had good points in the posts and now know one that did not read the post has any idea what everyone is talking about.

Things are very heated indeed and its nice to see that notice is being taken that theres a huge problem here..its hard to get to the underlying problems and try to work through solutions while everything is still going on, but mabey its a good thing that OP are finally being contested regularly. I don't agree with the timing of OV's attack, but alas they attacked, and have every right to do so.

But this is just one example of bad feelings due to OP attacks...now that there has been notice that these topics turn into flame wars mabey some serious discussion can begin on possible solutions to the problems with some real answers from game officials..like if pure GvG OP fights would actually be feasible and/or possible

it's not the game mechanic that is really the problem here.

Ok, positive proposal below.

Create each month a faction-related quest of medium complexity and grant victory to the faction that has a higher percentile of it's members successfuly finished the quest.

Usually the under-dog faction is more motivated to work towards success, so it is more likely they'll win - as long as victory is percentile computed, not sheer numbers.

Grant a reward likely to partially compensate for the lack of outposts/numbers - like 20% more experience, or 10% better accuracy, or more criticals... whatever.

Not enough to grant them victory, but enough to motivate them not to give up.

Strip it right back. OPs being battled over isn't such a bad thing. The issue of false/malicious/griefing declarations is known - the best way to deal with it is a hot topic in my world right now.

Other issues that I've seen on these forums vary wildly from someone not liking the way the mechanic works as it's not in their style of play to stuff that maybe a bit unfair on smaller guilds. But I'm listening - this is your space. Let's hear it...

Limited number of declerations possible.

Penalties for declaring falsely

Require minimum attendance at OP declarations or the declaration is cancelled.

Have defenders allow "time zone limitations" so as not to make it impossible to defend due to real life commitments (EG Weekend only OP battles?). Perhaps a longer attack/defense available period (1 week available to pick your 2 hour slot, attack and defense cannot clash).

Ooh, here's a good one... if you have an OP, declaring on another splits your available NPC guards between the 2... The more ops you declare on/possess the less individual NPC guards you get at each. Kinda like the Spires having HP split.

Non PvP OPs for (according to the Poll by Final) the vast majority of the players that prefer PvE to PvP.
