Hello and Welcome to our gigant Treehouse :)

It´s always neice to hear people are finding their way in our game with realtive ease. The fact that it isn´t like so many other games out there makes it sometimes hard for payers used to the others stile, to get a good foothold.
Even first impressions are often biased, because this isn´t like WoW, or that isn´t like SWG, or the System isn´t like EQ2...
Openmindedness is a very important trait when comming to Atys and so is curiosity, for nothing realy is like in any other game. You´ll have to do many things on your own, that were provided by others by a simple buttonclick.
For example stealth here is a PLAYER skill. You´ll have to learn how to avoid being eaten by the Monsters out there, not just click an icon an vanish...
And it is possible ;)

Anyway, I´ll stop ranting now and let you enjoy your stay.
Have FUN in our great community.

I missed being a tailor in the other game but from what I have seen so far of the crafting system here, I will much happier with the complexities and specializations this game has to offer.
you will find yoruself very at home :) crafting specific items to actually use is all about using the correct mix of raw materials and i'm sure you will soon have a blossoming recipie book with ideas and what you found worked.

Welcome to Atys :D

One tip for a crafter - decide straight away on one thing that you want to craft and stick to that for a long, long time. I say this because craft plans are expensive to buy with your Skill Points. The craft tree is by far the most starved in this way; although like all the skills, as the skill tree opens up and branches out SP get gradually easier to come by and you needn't be quite so thrifty.

Welcome! Ex-SWG player here too, my main toon was master weaponsmith/master force crafter on Farstar. I was lucky to discover ryzom a few days before NGE hit the fan... and never looked back.

Ryzom feels very much like SWG used to, at release date - minus the bugs, of course. There are different types of attacks, both for magic (fire, poison, electricity, aso) and melee (slashing, piercing...) - and creatures have different degrees of resist to each of these. Your attacks are customizable and have HAM costs.

Crafting is complex and subtle - each weapon and piece of armor is an unique combination of various materials, each contributing with some attributes to the final product. The best crafters have secret recipes, discovered after countless hours of experimentation.

There is no xp cap, with enough time and patience you can attain max level (250) in each and every profession. Because of that, most people end up playing one character only. A forager/crafter will need at least melee anyway - as it gives you much better chance to survive when foraging in dangerous areas.

I would suggest starting as a melee/mage/forager. You can buy crafting skills later - and crafting is rewarding only if your forage is about 30 levels higher.
Don't spend too much time on noob island - usually it's deserted and the NPC vendors only carry junk (if anything). Just learn your interface and get a feeling of the combat system; once you reach lvl 25 or so in combat you are ready for the mainland.

Welcome to the game, as others have said the community is very good when it comes to assisting, as are the Guides and support staff as you noticed.

I play with my partner and strongly recomend you keep at least one pair of charecters within equil levels of each other (only play those two togeather)
Im a fighter wilst my partner is a mage and we Duo very well, out level a lot of people as the game is quite hard solo.

Be sure to look around for a good guild, there are a lot of options for the Trykers, all of wich are good, ask lots of questions about there stance before you join to make sure you fit in.

Most of all, hope you have a great and fun time, and feel free to leave your in game name if you want to be contacted by "helpers"

Day 2 - The Saga Continues

Post by onatah »

My frail little Tryker was ready for yet another day of discovery in the world of Atys and today she decided to try and stay alive just a little bit longer. Her chosen paths are crafting, harvesting and magic. After harvesting unsuccessfully for the components that fill the “lining” spot on the recipes, she decided to try and obtain some resources off of the creatures instead.

Off she went with her magic amplifier and started blasting away at the suckling yubos. Flashing lights went off when she leveled and after having killed several of the creatures and healing herself, it was time to sit down to regenerate. While she sat on the ground watching the creatures around her, a loan suckling yubo came running up with an eyeball next to his name indicating that he was watching her.

Not more then two seconds later the silly git hiked his leg like he was urinating right on her. I had to laugh at the humor of it all but at the same time in the back of my mind I was thinking just you wait until my health regens and I am gonna blast you to kingdom come with my acid magic.

Once her health finally came back up and the rude little fur ball had been laid to rest, it was time to fight some more. After having killed a few yubos and having incurred some damage I noticed a flashy light around her and that her health was full again. Turning around she came eye to eye with Aquarun. They talked for a bit and he healed her off and on while she killed the creatures and answered questions regarding game play and skills.

Not long after she met Aquarun another person came up named Leffia. She was quite the colorful character with green hair and a green outfit and topping it all off was a hat. She had kind of a pirate theme going on which was looked really cool. We all talked for a bit and she also would heal Ravenspirit as she attacked the yubo’s. When I asked how she got the cool clothes she took me on a shopping trip and soon I had on a complete purple outfit.

We all went off and killed more creatures and I waited patiently for my hubby to get back in game. He was having some computer issues and I didn’t want to cross over to the mainland until he to had his skills up. It wasn’t long after that Leffia came up to bid me fairwell as she and Aquarun were crossing over. I followed them to the teleport and bid them fair well.

I went back to hunting for resources and my hubby finally got in game. He said there is a game guide here over by the bridge so I went over to talk to her and I am still amazed at the great community and support that I have come across. We both talked for a bit when my internet connection went down. I don’t remember the spelling of the game guides name but please excuse my abrupt departure. We decided to shutdown since this was the second night in a row that the clock ticked midnight and we both had to work the next day. My levels were now Fight-7, Magic-16, Craft-10 and Harvesting-13.

As far as missions go... you can right click your compass (radar) and select "mission" then select the NPC you are looking for. This will point you to where ya need to go.
