It is sensible to have some sort of limit on it.

While what you say makes sense, I think it's not exactly that, if I understood correctly. A player without points will be able to create a scenario starting from a square-plain-ugly-EP2-like map putting yubos and boxes on it, e.g. 40 yubos and 40 boxes, 40 moving entities, 40 static entities in Map-ID = 10. A Master Forest Ringer will be able to start from a beatiful map, Map-ID = 40, putting a mix of yubos, bodocs, caprynis but as long as ther are less than 80 entities, the resources are mostly the same.

The other question: let's say I can create a scenario that will be enabled as long as I stay in game, and I would need to pay to create a perm scenario. What if I never log off?

Xavier Antoviaque wrote:We agree with you on this, that's why we want to relate the Ring points to the Ryzom character; currently we plan to give an amount of Ring points proportional to your character's level, but that's still being discussed.
Please keep discussing then...
I've been around since sept 04, and my highest skill is lvl 178, which means I quite suck at powerleveling, and did other fun things in the game then just getting levels.

Giving ring points according to level will not just bring great content, maybe even the contrary, as the people who have great ideas might not be the ones who also have the highest levels...

just a random thought, wouldn't having a standard subscription model for the ring be a much simpler solution? ppl who play online games must have a general level on income to support not just the sub, but hardware, connection, time, etc. a few extra euro's is unlikely to make a big difference to anyones budget

I can just about see the logic of ppl creating content that they experienced ingame, ie by their level and thus having a good idea of how things work, but hmm a construction kit should be about making things based on creativity not grinding..

Yes, I would think a combination of things could be usefull, level of char, account creation date, and even maybe things like socializing or creativity...
*dreams on as those lasts are very hard to made into numbers*

And like Rushin just proposed (i hate it when people have the same ideas ;) ) why not just a subscription model if you want to have the 'higher' levels of R2?

Darn, I took ages to type a big boring reply and everyone else said it for me :D lol, and *sigh*

Anyhow, the more I think about this, the more I keep coming to the same conclusion as Rushin - some kind of subscription may actually be the easiest idea. The problem I have with needing to earn items and map size, is that this is supposed to be a construction kit as Rushin mentioned - people really can't be creative with a bunch of yubos and capryni on a small map :)

It is nice to earn things, but if you limit people with a creative tool, most of them probably won't go far with it. Imagine starting 3DS MAX and being told "Sorry noob, you get the cube primitive only for now" :) You wouldn't be inspired to work on getting the cylinder, since all you can make is... a grecian style marble column or... a noddy car :)

Not necessarily true...one might be able to afford hardware, internet connection, and the Ryzom subscription...that doesn't mean they can afford anything more...

If R2 was subscription-based, no R2 for me. :(

I agree.

I also wonder which character would be used to determine level. The character in my first slot is not my main. In my first character slot is a level 10ish. Second slot is Jelathnia, my actual main. So would level be determined by automatically finding the highest-level character, or just the first slot character?

It would be a shame to give me points for this Ryzom Ring.

I have been playing ten months and some of my lvls are high enough, no masters but only 20 or so lvls off of them.

I can tell you here and now that I wil not be creating content. It just doesnt interest me. Im sure there are many other people out there whose only interest in the ring is to play on it rather than create with it.

Perhaps we will be allowed to trade the points? In a sense we would become patrons to peoples work. The more popular your stuff is the more you will be allowed to create.

There would have to be a minimum time which you grant your support to someones project and perhaps a maximum time too, this would allow everyone to have a chance and there would not be a monopoly.

There would have to be a forum for poeple to see the ideas and progress of peoples projects providing an place for the designers to generate interest in the community

I have absolutely no idea how this would work in practice. its just an alternative idea. :)

Just my idea for those people who do not wish to create and dont want to see someones creativity hampered.

I like that idea Xycox :) I'm thinking, for the maps to be at all interesting for an amount of time, we will need a good set of objects and options at the beginning - people won't want to play bland scenarios :)

iphdrunk wrote:Wow.... I know it was just an example, but please, no. That could mean players dumping scenarios, creating them just for the sake of getting "enough" scens to get to the next ring level, and although obvious... quality can be way better than quantity...

Luckily it was jsut an idea off the top of my head, and probably not a very good one. :D But I still think some kind of way to "unlock" more packs related only to R2 and not your toon lvls is a good idea.

I like Xycox's idea aswell.

This way people who create engaging and fun scenario's get rewarded by the people who enjoy it most, the best reward for ones work is a endorsement from the ones who enjoy it :)
