Meh, it's no fun to just find how Atys can't work, and leave it at that. The fun part of science fiction is to first identify what doesn't work, and why, and then come up with (possibly and probably nonsensical) ways in which it could still work

Atysian Wood appears to be far less flamable than Earth wood, its composed different and appears to be stronger too.

On Earth too, there were chimneys and even fireplaces made out of wood in former times. It all depends on the right technique, I guess...

And yes! Jessica saying that Atys is actually a terraformed planet gone wild is telling us a LOT! It's telling us that Atys was in fact created by the Karavan... Or at least it seems that way. As a Kami that is going to make me re-examine my believes!

Even if the planet's creation was started by the Karavan, that doesn't mean you have to become their slaves. Just stay friends with the Kami, they were born on the planet just like you!

I never did like the Fyros-is-made-of-Sawdust explanation, even if it would be more accurately described as termite droppings. Just think about what will happen to all that fine, desiccated wood dust, when some Fyros hero lets his flaming retch axe or stavonus sword rest on the ground ? never mind the launchers, flame spells or kipesta and ocyx breaths.
