I have to correct myself, as the "dust" does indeed wander about the sky. It seems to rise from somewhere near the southeast, close to south, and settle opposite of that, in the northwest.khyle wrote:[A]ll the dust in the sky - isn't it surprising that it does not move either? Maybe The Eye and the dust share some special relationship? Maybe the other entities move and circle far behind the dust and The Eye?

I think this is in line with what I said...vguerin wrote:We are on the "bark/crust" and the roots in the sky that another homin mentioned are considered the "canopy"
and thanks for the picture
Re: Names of the "moons"
the Sun is the Heart of Ma-Duk what else
well the ringed Planet is the heart of Jena (cold and only showing in the dark of the night)
the moon...well it´s the moon, lol
and to oftopic
if i look at the "bark/crust" Picture our Atys looks a lot like a Figtree(no, not Ficus benjaminii, but Ficus leprieurie) that has grown around a whole planet
O_o
and did you notice the "holes" at the north and South pole?
ether this are just holes(but then why did the Tree grow around them), REALY big and deep oceans... or ICE!!!
would be nice if it´s ice... that could be a whole new ecosystem then *EG*

I think the view of the sky is unobstructed... from the Nexusmotan wrote:...
A little separate from this topic... I am sad that it is almost impossible to see the sky from mostly anywhere in atys. The only "clean" view of the sky I ever had was on the noob island.
Would it be possible to eliminate a few of the planet's roots from the sky? A clean view would be nice to have, at least in the capital cities.
so if you want to do some uninterrupted star-gazing, just a little trip thru the prime roots and there you are. Mind the cuttlers tho, I think they are on speed there
Re: Names of the "moons"
Of course, the Kami cannot even understand why Homins would want to look at the sky... they certainly wont be allowed to once Ma-Duk consumes their individuality (Soul ?)khyle wrote:.....
And, now completely offtopic, only the karavan could suggest something like cutting down the branches
Re: Names of the "moons"
As lore stands, I believe that there are no known names for the orbiting planets and celestial shapes, however, it is known that Atys is just one planet in, if I recall correctly, a saga of 8 planets total. So perhaps we shall learn more as the story evolves?
Re: Names of the "moons"
Would love to see the core accessible. From what it looks to me, it would be an absolutely crazy maze of tunnels that go every which direction. I fear the Karavan do not wish for me to tread here though.vguerin wrote:We are on the "bark/crust" and the roots in the sky that another homin mentioned are considered the "canopy"

Re: Names of the "moons"
I think it wouldn' t be a good idea in the first place for anyone to try and venture deeper. If the resiliance of the predators and other critters in the upper layers of the Prime Roots are an indication of things to be found even lower ....
Besides, we all know what horror the Fyros unleashed upon the bark during the time of the Ancients. Do we want to risk going deeper and possibly awaken something worse from it' s slumber while we are still trying to overcome the last threat?

Re: Names of the "moons"
The "sun" constantly at the same place in the sky, day and night, is very concerning.
From an atronomic point of view, it means Atys rotate around this "sun" following a very elliptic path (close to the sun at daytime, far at night-time), and rotating with a non-constant speed around its pole to always having the same face lighted (so appartenly the sun at same place all the time)
Altough the elliptic path is okay, the non-constant rotating speed is non-natural... i may be wrong here, but it could be explained that the whole planet is acting like sunflowers... only a living planet is capable of such! Moreover there is the dark side of atys, never shown to the sun, but prolly half-lighted by nearby planets such as the ringed one... the living ecosystem at this place must be of "another" kind...
Now when you watch for 36 hours (ig) long the ringed planet, you'll see it describe also a little ellipse in the sky, and is always showing the same face, also seemingly keeping the same distance from Atys... It means this planet follow the exact path of Atys (big ellipse around the same sun) but with a small angle difference between the plane of atys path and plane of ringed-one path.
The biggest and scariest fact is, if this observation is true, it means Atys makes a revolution around the sun in 24 hours and rotating on itself in 24 hours... wow how fast does atys moves then ??
I'll not detail here why, but i'm sure atys sun is smaller than our irl sun, so i think to have liquid water on atys, atys must be pretty close to the sun. some fast calculations shows that atys must move around the sun from 7000 to 10000 kilometers per seconds!! (earth is roughly 30 km/s around sun)...
I've not yet observed carefully the skymap to help me confirm such observations.

Maybe The Eye is in a stationary orbit around Atys?
On the other hand, wouldn't that be the same statement, only from a different point of view?
As for the change in size, it might be a change in intensity...
Atystronomy is only a young science, but these are my thoughts so far.
