ahh server down for a bit time for some silly idea's on the forum
many changes to melee recently, most notably the massive hp boost from ha. it's a good attempt to make it practicle in a mass PvP situation but seems to me it's still not there.
I tried in an op battle recently to melee but gave up after 10 mins. One thing that i think would really help is if healers could cast a heal over time on the melee warrior. The biggest problem i have either as a healer or a tank is that the tank of course has to get in range of the mages so happily runs toward to the opposing forces, and bam! gets hit by multiple 3k nukes.. cya bye bye. As a healer trying to keep a tank up i find it really hard to stay within healing range for the same reason.
Admittedly i havent put a lot of thought into this, so thought i'd post here so the idea can be shot down in flames by ppl who've had more coffee than me this morning

i think that we still have a long way to go to fully balance out ele/vs mele in batle situations but imo things ahve been massivly improved. the only problem now ofc is that the new hp on HA means that the mele's get rezed with like 10 hp... 1 bomb nuke and they are down again.
i think the trick is ranged atacking the nukes with arm shots a high lvl ranged can be devestatin g if they can stop a healer from casting
so by the time the mele's arive all teh mages are on low hp and can't do much

For one on one duels melee will own now, but in teams nukers still have the advantage of being able to heal, in a full team healers and nukers will always be the main thing, but now having 1 or 2 meleers to cause trouble is fun too

Sure a single Melee V a group of Eles is going down , but against the healers in the rear they can do some serious damage just gotta get there first , DT n RawPure where both trying to cut my legs off when I helped defend (healing) your OP not sure how successfull they were but there were some other healers laying down on the job near me lol
Some ppl can be very effective as Melees (Mioete n Scorpious for instance in the old lands event) same thing goes for Range (Crythos) n Affliction (Ani) , not sure how effective it felt to them but it sure looked like fun to me and they definately seemed to be getting results (I felt the wrath of the Ani/Crythos duo myself and im sure it wouldve hurt had I not been stunned lol)

if healers can only heal then yes theres gunna be trouble but like in rushins OP defence we had alot of good healers who where also AoDs so the meleers fell fast, altho they did cause a few issue. having people melee is defo gunna change large PvP battles they can turn the tide, if healers die everyone dies

I've always been in favor of healing over time spells, but the link is still going to break if the melee runs outside your range
Personally I have most of my hopes set on ranged becoming a skill that beats mages but is beaten by melee. It's already close, doing physical damage so that heavy armor stops it, draining a lot of stam so rangers cant wear heavy armor and are vulnerable to melee, having an increased speed stanza to interrupt castings, doing not so much damage so tanks can stay alive while being shot at for a long time.... all it needs is more range so that rangers can outrange nukers and not be zapped in two spells before they even get close enough to fire. And maybe some more speed to be even more effective at disrupting casts.

You should check my post in the "Range Fighting" topic... This is exactly what I posted in there, but a bit more detailed .
