Well I had to finially try it I guess :D

Post by raven456 »

Hi there people, I'm downloading the client now so I haven't made a avatar yet.. so for now you can call me Raven™ (as I'm known in most places)... well I'll be honest... I'm currently in between MMOs and well SoR had my interest back in 04, and now that I'm not doing nothing... I thought "why not finially find out what it's really like?"

So here I am.. on the 7 day trial.. and well I'm gona see what it's like.

All that aside.. any pointers guys? hehe don't worry I don't to be led by the hand :) I'm just wondering which forum posts I should read, and is there anything major I should know about?

Thanks for any answers before hand :D

Apart from that happy to be here, and see you in game.

Raven™

'ello

there are some posts in this section that talk a bit about starting out.. but briefly pick magic/craft/forage starter packs, get off the starter island as soon as u feel comfortable with the controls, read the lore enough to choose between the factions and pick a race - it makes a big difference now.

shout in region with any questions/help u need we're a friendly bunch :)

enjoy and hf

I'm one month old in RYzom and enjoy it more and more as times goes on.
Some things that I have fresh in mind: best levelling is in small 2-3 group. Not in big one, no solo.

Scout even if it's not named is the basic skill you need, the AI of creatures and the UI lets you sneak in most places, this is a great fun allover the game and at most levels. Explore and learn behaviours of mobs, only this and will make a whole story for you in game.

Don't make form getting levels fast you first aim. It can easily eat your soul up and get you burnt. Most levels have their fun, try to discover it.

Community is impressively kind, generous and nice to newcommers. Make friends, don't be shy, ask your questions, find some master-apprentice relations, they have their own fun, they make content for both of you.

Don't hesitate to appeal to technical support. They are uncommonly prompt, nice and efficient. At least compared to the other MMOs I've been playing in the last 4 years.

Open the eyes wide, ask why are those letters on that building, why is that huge orchid there, and what use could have that ritual object. Don't diregard details. If you concentrate on game mechanics only, you'll be bound to the skeleton an not notice the beauty of the body. Get into the story actively.

Keep in mind this is not ment to be easy, and be proud of discovering things, of using intelligently the tools given to you at each level range taken. Just levelling means nothing if you don't play with those skills optimising them to a maximum.

Take all risks, don't go against all odds :)

Have fun and welcome :)

Welcome to Atys! Don't spend too long on the newcomer isle. On the mainland, you will find homins running about hectically adjusting to the new fame system and the introduction of outposts. The first outpost battles are going on now.

Well thx for all the comments guys :)

I think some of you may have even seen me on Klients (btw If i'm not chatty on klients.. means I'm enjoying myself somewhere.. or working something out :P

BTW Vguerin/DoubleTap... that is a great guide (your sig) gotta say thanks for that... you have done many a noob a great deed there :D

Also for someone that was a artisn/weaponsmith for some time on SWG the harvesting system on ryzom seems fresh (if a bit confusing), but even thought i takes a bit of time... when you get used to it.. the system makes sense.

Again thx for the comments guys.. and anyone I saw in game that helped me too.

Now I'm off to work out what all this Fame means? hehe I haven't gained or lost any since I started.
