But to those many who are roleplayers, and yes there are alot of us, the story continues on and that event was a big piece. That event formed opinions, views, friends and enemies.

Its all one story, not jsut individual seperate events.

Am just very interested as to which story line you are playing too....

nevrax puts game mechanics in place and gives a few pointers and goal (missions).
it's the PLAYERS who decide how they play it out.
we can only blame nevrax about game mechanics not for player decisions.

"You nuked me in old lands, you not my friend anymore" is totally understandible. even now, when old lands are gone.

ever heard of consequences ?

"it's just a game" you say ? why you so upset then

LOL
For one my friend, i am not upset in the slightest.

If you people want to " Role play " to your own little storyline i am happy for you. Do i realise that my actions will have positive and negative impact on your game. " YES ". But as proven by the distribution of Honour Points I know who was playing the game the way the devs had planned.

I went into the event with plenty of Kara friends and came out with plenty of kara friends. Even after i killed them and they killed me we managed to see past the event, but for some reason you cant.

Like i said earlier, my apologies if my actions cause anyone to not enjoy the game ( for whatever reason ). But i will also play the game the way that i enjoy. Since that is the 1st event that has been of that style putting the harvesters at risk. Some mistakes where made by all factions and players due to lack of planning and communication. I believe through future events and problems that may arise we will develop a good event system for all players to play the way they want.

This post was not to stir a hornets nest, but was more about the Childish ways in which problems found within the game are dealt with on a player to player level. If those players had come up and put their cases forward as " Adults " then maybe a little more consideration would have been made. Passing abuse and constant berrage of insults and slinging in chat channels is not the way to handle anything. Thats all that i wanted people to get out of this post.

Thanks

If you are treating the last event purely as an instance and as a way to gain points then I feel you are missing a major part of what SoR is about.

Its not "our" own little storyline but an integral part of the SAGA of Ryzom and is here too stay. Some Kami I have respect for either as freinds, warriors or just good players although they have been misguided by Ma-Duks lies I hope they will one day see the light.
Alot however (as with some on the Kara side) are just aggro bandits to be stamped into the dust their actions, in and out of the event, prior and post event, whatever, proving this so if you ask for a res and dont get one or get a negative response from a player think about it, the company you keep, your past actions etc, your faction alignment after doing this if you still dont get it and cant resist the urge to "Trashtalk" or "make threats", as somone very aptly said before "you reap what you sow"

you never gonna understand why some now feel that you are not their "friend" anymore.
EP2 wasnt RP, it was kill first or be killed. story given from nevrax was rp, no question about it.

because in-game character tells something about player behind the screen (it may be completely false, but that does not matter) therefore if i would meet you in another game and knowing you ryzom chars history, i still would not help you.
you did it once, you do it again.
just to be clear, i dont hate you in person, i just dont want anything to do with you.

i was not "part of" ep2 long enough to meet you, but i was there long enough to meet others like you.

The same story others are playing in. At least those that are interested in the story. If you acted dishonourably towards people, then they may not act favourably towards you in the future. If you can't understand that then maybe you need to have a better look at your actions. Then maybe you'll understand why people treat you badly In Character for what you did.

The Temple event was a high learning curve of how to conduct yourself during faction conflict for resources there were many times when I was torn between rezing a fallen comrade / assisting (healing) the attacks on the enermy faction diggers or not, there were also times when I wouldve liked to kill those who were supposed to be on my side but were in fact hindering progress by stiring up trouble. A "Kill em All!!" attitude is not always the best tactic though I do understand the blood lust especialy when its been done to you a few times...

Anyway theres a couple of things ive learnt from that experience , the way I treat anyone will be influenced by my past experiences with them (how could it not be?) -this counts equally for ppl of both factions , there are those on both sides that I would ignore calls for assistance from and also those I would go out of my way to help (if I had the power to do so) , also though I will try to bear in mind that this was the first event of this kind and everyone was trying to work out how to "play it" -accidents/mistakes were made , I know for sure there were some hard choices and my own play was not always how it should be or how id like it to be

Personaly I teamed with or dug alongside the Knights on many occasions and found them to be good and worthy Kami diggers/fighters , there were a couple of occasions when the blood lust seemed to get the better of them though and their actions became Kami-kazi in stlye lol but like I said it was a learning experience and tempers were not always easy to control...

Ummm dunno how to sum that up except to say that you will be judged on your actions but everyone should try to remember we are all new to this

This horse has been beaten to death with a big stick in countless threads/flame wars but I'll try again to get the message across.

You (and others) want to PvP, that is fine with me as long as your PvP does NOT include me. If ever I decide I want to PvP you'll know by the bullets flying round your ears but untill that happens: leave me the hell alone!

As far as I'm concerned you can PvP (in silence) all you like. I won't force you to "dig in peace" even if I could but have the decency to not waste my time by killing me when I've just made an efford to get somewhere to dig/hunt/watch the friggin sunset.

There are two things that bother me about PvP:
  1. It tends to force me to do something I don't want to be doing (right now)
  2. I tends to involve a lot of l33t sp34k/insults in region (i've been around since beta so calling me a n00b, i'd say, is far beside the truth)
You are right, respect goes both ways so if you can enjoy your PvP while at the same time respecting my wish not to get involved, then you'll have my respect but don't tell me I should PvP just because YOU like it because then my loathing will be all yours...

I'm confused by this statement... There isn't a lot of direction or railroading provided by the devs. The fact that the kami lead in every regard and dominated the first two lands and yet failed to resoundly win shows how little we understand the "plan". We either tied by design, or thanks to the negotiating skills of a few players, or that most of the population had simply made themselves sick with boredom by the constant ganking, crying and flaming during the first land which was enough to give the karavan a chance to catch up.

Regarding honor points, looking at chronicles.ryzom.com, MKoA placed 2nd in crafting, 19th in harvesting and 22nd in Fighting. You contributed 3% to crafting, 10% to harvesting and 12% to fighting. I don't know what this suggests or proves. I don't see a correlation between the event design and your scores. My scores aren't impressive either, I just digged and crafted when I could.

I've almost forgotten about the event. I remember people leaving or getting banned over this event. I remember getting killed by you but I got killed by a lot of folks - I was one of the designated targets. I welcomed the peace and accepted the DP.

MMO players can be transitory, they come, they go. People leave here and go to WoW, people leave WoW and come here. There are some elements that draw people to either game and there are elements that push them away.

Thanks for giving me something to think about.

To all those who had taken the time to explain the other sides view.

I thank everyone for their feedback in regards to this matter. I can now see through the replies that I ( at times ) have caused a number of players to lose enjoyment playing Ryzom, and i apologise for this.

All i can say is that i will take more time to think before acting. As all of those who replied i am just here to get the most out of this game as possible and have as much fun as i can during this time.

I can not do much about previous actions or the way they have impacted on the games of others, but i can make changes to the way i play the game now.

If anyone does have a problem witht he way i am doing something just let me know please ( through a tell ), i cant always promise that i will stop or not do it but will take the time to consider the impact on others.

Well Thanks for your time and hope to see you all in the game.

Regards.
