Politics

Post by michielb »

I believe I read somewhere that besides war homins could also choose for peace. Last night a large group made an attempt to bring that about however the FvF restrictions made it impossible for us to form one united front.
I also believe I read somewhere that some sort of politics would be introduced to the game.

The following suggestion could take these two things beyond mere role play and actively suppord them through game mechanics.

Now I don't intend to make this a "PvP=bad thread" but instead make a suggestion for those who oppose war to work together. I do not want to work out all the details here, I merely put this up as a discussion piece for both players and nevrax to concider.

Formalised alliances and by that I mean that the game mechanics allow for guilds to allign themselves with other guilds.
I propose two types of alliances:
  • Strategic alliances
  • Religious alliances
Members of a strategic alliance would be able to heal each other regardless of faction in FvF area's. For strategic alliances there would be no faction restrictions for joining.

Religious Alliances obviously would have to adhere to the faction boundaries and can therefor only consist of guilds belonging to the same faction.

Each guild could have a set number of alliances but the system would allow for a "chain" of alliances that could, in theory encompass all guilds of Atys.

This proposal would, in one great sweep, adress many concerns regarding the current, and future, PvP additions to the game and allow those who do not wish to partake in the FvF to do so with limited impact on their game play while still leaving FvF as an option to those who wish it.

For instance an alliance with a guild owning a outpost would mean sharing the benefits, though not in the same measure as the "owners"

I could be wrong but I think this would satisfy both PvP and non-PvP players.

Wasn't there some mention a while back by someone at Nevrax (Xav?) about guild alliances? I don't remember the details, but if your FVF stuff was added to it, that would be rather useful. Would solve alot of cross faction issues.

Hmm...interesting.

If you want to work for peace among homin, you must work against both Karavan and Kami the bringers of this hated war. Somehow they have convinced the homin to fight for them and against each other, instead of against the kitin. Destroy the materials that are being used to build all the temples. Only by doing this and preventing the construction of these Monuments to War, can peace be achieved.

There is a limited amount of these materials, so if enough are destroyed neither temple can be bulit. But it will take a number of homin united to the cause of peace on Atys.

Actually the materials aren't limited. They turned the KT off in the area so essentailly they're limitless.

But this is off topic.

Frankly I think they should've had something like this in place before they started throwing FvF around.

Kami tolerance has nothing to do with the amount of material available. My understanding is that these temple materials are limited much in the way that supreme and excellent materials are limited in the prime roots. Eventually they run out. In this case, however, there is a very large supply. At least this is what my reading of the information on this war has led me to believe. Otherwise why would the Kami and Karavan want to fight over these resources if there was enough to see the completion of all the temples. Or is this just another example of their deception?

This isn't about building temples, it's about guilds working together for what ever reason. This has nothing to do with what we've seen of E2 so far, I'm thinking a little futher head....

To a time when either the Karavan or Kami completely rule Atys? No thank you.

And I am speaking of guilds, or even all homin, working together. Together to stop the tyranny of Kami and Karavan. Surely there are enough neutral guilds out there to work together and accomplish this goal.

no limits is my guess, i can see the outrage now, "we are at 99%, been working on this for 3 months and no more mats, wth?"

with 8 temples in atys, even if they only provided enough for 7 (or 7.99 to make it a race for the last one) there are still guaranteed to be a kami and karavan temple on each side of the faction.

So all in all, pretty pointless ;)

Listen, I like the way you're keeping this post high up in the list but in case you hadn't noticed. this is in no way a role playing thread.

ps not trying to flame you but I would very much like this thread to stay on topic and you are very much confusing the ussue here...
