Thanks for responding Jessica, I myself was afraid Nevrax was turning a mostly deaf ear to the players again till I read this post. Posts like these show that Nevrax cares where slap-patches leave players wondering how things could be missed.
Jessica Mulligan wrote:You know, this just plain isn't true and you know it. You and I had a long talk about a lot of these issues at the last IRL. If we didn't care, would we listen and make adjustments, bith short and loing term? Would we take polls and do things differently than before? Would we even bother to comment here?
No and No in your favor... but,
I think apples and oranges are being compared here and you and the vocal complainers aren't speaking the same language. Yes you've had polls about graphics changes and acted on it unlike before and it has inspired customer confidence a lot.
However, the people worried about graphics and the ones worried about pvp have nothing in common accept they're both customers and may or may not be the same people. About PvP Nevrax has not shown the same type of customer responsiveness that is needed.
As noted in another thread, we meet every day to discuss the progress of EP2, discuss the comments we see on this board and make what adjustments we can/are possible (given the nature of code), and also make notes about what types of content to do - and NOT to do - in the future.
Players don't know this, and I dare say most forum readers won't even believe it. That isn't a personal attack, I do believe it myself. But I think Nevrax needs to continue to do more to convince their playerbase with either details or rapid implemention/proof.
For that matter, our event team makes adjustments on the fly, during events, depending on the will of the players. For example, an event trigger set to go off Sunday was cancelled by the EM because the players wanted to take the event in a different direction, one that required the EMs to be flexible and go with it.
Would it have been obvious to the players? Several of the recent events have been scripted events where if there was an outcome or result then it wasn't entirely obvious.
I don't think the problem that is upsetting people is really the event team. I think the objection is that the game design is going in a way that caters only to a select group of players and events are then built around that playstyle/development. In Ep2's case PvP.
Like the existing PvP zones in the roots, players don't understand why forces they've represented in game suddenly want to kill each other... and more importantly their character. I.E. a Tryker might support Wyler... who has a background with the Kami and the Karavan and wonder why Wyler suddenly endorses that player killing Kami following Trykers and why those Kami tryker friends are lobbing spears at them when they're both still Tryker loyalists.
Plus when it comes down to it, a lot of players really have been waiting for dynamic storyline content like this but absolutely hate PvP.
They haven't been provided with a choice of declaring their allegiance to a Faction. They especially haven't been given a choice about participating in EP2 without PvP and I think this is where a lot of players are furious at Nevrax and leaving.
It is perfectly OK to not like the content you see here; I'd be the last person to claim we were perfect. However, we don't 'steamroller' the plot, nor do we turn a deaf ear to players.
Thanks for the response and proving Nevrax isn't turning a dear ear to players these days.
