The problem: About half the time I launch the game, log in, select a character, and loooooad, it will hang at the last triangle and never go into the game. The music just keeps on a-playing and, as Ethereal shows, packets still fly between me and the server.
If I kill Ryzom, wait a bit for it to unload completely, and relaunch, I usually get in.
I used to think it was just when running the game for a second time before rebooting, but that was just chance. It has also now happened on the first launch after a reboot, and really just seems to be a 50/50 chance whether I'll get in or not -- rebooting really has no noticable effect.
I have an AMD 64 (3400+), 1G RAM, 6800 Ultra, SATA drive, etc. All drivers are definitely up to date, as I kept trying to debug this problem.
I still have no idea what it is, but at least my workaround of just killing Ryzom and relaunching seems to work to get me in the game.
If I can provide any more information to help you guys debug this, let me know. I'm more than willing.

[Further note: I still play WoW with some friends and don't have issues with it. I've played EQ2 with no problems. Eve Online, Lineage II, City of Heroes, City of Villians (I'm in the beta), and others I'm sure I've forgotten. Yeah, I'm a little addicted to these games.
