Why a weapon with higher dmg actually does less dmg?
Re: Why a weapon with higher dmg actually does less dmg?
Hehe, yeah I know what you mean about old timers and digging.. Sekh and I once swore we'd never dig/craft. And now here we are trying to craft just about everything between the two of us. And I still hate digging....

Noooo, I want you to craft everything...I'll watch. And you know you really love digging - it's so exciting when I'm along.

This is true! Sometimes get on in edgeways though, and that's good enough for me

iphdrunk wrote:I take it from your post that you are lvl 44, so the branches have not split. What you state is a bit wierd, so please:
- can you check the damage when you wield the weapon? not the max damage, but the damge you inflict: if you right click and select info on the weapon you'll get both values.
- can you also detail your actions? are you using the "increase damage" with one weapon and not the other?
- are you attacking the same mob? different mobs have different resists.. althought not in your case because both are slashing weapons...
I deal usually 199 dmg with the 20 lvl weapon and 190 with the 40 lvl weapon ( thats the maximum dmg i have dealt to any mob and i deal it frequently ). I use increase damage with both weapons, the same inc dmg. I attack the same mobs.
It doesnt matter if i use inc dmg 2 or 3 with both weapons, they deal the same max dmg, 199 and 190

Yep thats the problem Increase damage 2 = up to lvl 20 weapons
Increase damage 3 = up to lvl 30 weapons
You need to be using Increase damage 4 ( up to level 45) to get the double damage from y our lvl 40 Sword.

Your lvl 20 axe doing 199 will do that with increase damage 2 or 3 like you state cause it only needs increase damage 2.
Your level 40 sword exceeds the increase damage 2 and 3 so will never do the double damage of the increase damage brick since its not high enough. It will do a fraction of it. Since 30 (the highest of increase damage 3) divided by 40 (the quality of your weapon) = .75 thennnnnnn
108 +(108 *.75) = 189 or your 190 with some rounding issues all makes sense
Switch to a increase damage 4 brick and your lvl 40 sword will do more damage. However, it also seems you need a better sword.
