Why a weapon with higher dmg actually does less dmg?

Your almost right if he's using a low lvl weapon in a high lvl skill then there is no need to use a high lvl increase damage brick. Therefore the lower level of the weapon would dictate the increase damage brick used. This is exactly the case with his lvl 20 axe

I have seen minor discrepancies here, that leads me to beleive it is better (veeery slightly) to use an optimized level weapon. In other words, using a q1 weapon or a q2 (q2 > q1), crafted with the same materials, at lvl l, and setting the right bricks (values just made up)

That's possible - although personally I've noted exact same damages. if it does vary that slightly though, there's still no point in using the higher brick.

I'm saying no. Lets assumed i'm lvl 160 in 1handed axe

Been hunting all day and pooooo my lvl 160 axe just broke. Go to my back up axe and its a lvl 100 axe.

Lets just assume maxed damage bricks and i'm hitting enough not to need accurate attack.

then the 160 axe would have used:

Max Damage 9 - 150
Stam 14 - 160

As an example obviously different combos of hp/stam could be used but using just stam 14 to make things easier to compare.

Now if we want to be EFFICIENT then the above is not required for my 100 axe. The below would work for when I use the 100 axe.

max damage 7 - 100
Stam 11 - 100

Clearly when I'm using the lower Quality weapon where my skill level exceeds my weapon quality level to be efficient and not just throw away credits for my attacks using the different brick clearly makes sense and is clearly the most efficient.

Excuse me? Did I read that correctly? If you're level 20 then using a level 20 stanza has the same effect on a q10 weapon as it does on a q100 weapon? That goes everything I have ever heard, learned, or experienced in using weapons and stanzas.

I level Daggers, 1H pierce, 1H smash regularly. AlLL my weapons are higher Q than my levels, by far, from my 1H slash strength.

i use different stanzas based on the level of skill I am using. when, I use a stanza that is much much higher, enough to cover the Q of the weapon, the damage I give does not change a single digit.

Max damage with inc atack brick high enough for weapon Q ; 121
Max damage with inc attack brick high enough for my CC level; 121

Edit: I haven't tested yet for weapons below my skill level - but I find it hard to believe you need to match the level if it's higher,but the Q if it's lower, seems like a mixed up system. Shouldn't it be based on the same thing in either case?
