Should Guilds be amalgamating now?

Even without the pending outposts, if your guild has dwindled in membership below a critical mass of activity I think it's wise to consider merging with a like-minded guild. I've seen a lot of players hang on in near-dead guilds for extended periods of time, when it seems to me that they would be having a lot more fun if they let it go and joined forces with a friendly but active guild.

When deciding which guild might be your best option to merge with, obvious factors include how active they are in your time zone range, and how compatible they are with your existing guild's philosophies and faction. What might be overlooked is a guild's 'infrastructure' - that is, do they have skilled crafters and harvesters in order to internally produce most essential equipment? Some guilds still have good numbers, but have lost so many of their skilled crafters that they are highly reliant on other guilds to keep them supplied with the "good stuff".

If you notice your guild chat devoid of playful banter then you shoudl immediately consider merging your guild, or leaving your guild for who you think the leader should merge with.

Force their hand. Make some waves.

It doesnt harm sticking in there for something you believe in!

An equal arguement could be represented by this game as a whole! If its getting a little quiet and you might not be having as much fun as you once had, would you quit the game?

On the other hand people stick in there for something they believe in! I believe in Ryzom and i also believe in AoA... so I'm sticking around!

There is nothing wrong with Angels of Atys, i wouldnt want any other guild frankly :D

The moment i leave AoA is the moment i leave Ryzom.

Forced combining of guilds is a bad thing in my opinion. We should be seeking to grow through new players, not consolidate our losses.

Myself I'm hanging out in the Pilgrims until the officers make a decision to come back or not. I might put a position holder in as guild master, but I will never give up on such a good guild especially with so many names still on the roster.

The best review and recruiter for games is its players, and if we can't reverse the negative loss of players and get many people to return then I don't think Ryzom will last long term for me to worry about it anyways.

I like a healthy variety of guilds. It adds character, it adds roleplay opporunity for guilds to take different sides and purposes, and in general more choices is not a bad thing until they become meaningless choices.

Besides, as it is I'm not sure we have as many guilds on Atys as we do Outposts.

Lets try to keep things alive.

Lets wait and see how this all is working after patch.

I need to know what it takes to get an outpost initial. If a small guild can do that (with help of others) then alliances will be an option to keep them against attackers.

If it is not possible for a small guild to get one initial, then i have to think of joining a bigger guild or i have to think about the need of an outpost.

I also need to see how PvP, FvF flags are working.

As part of the GA through CO I am not sure that alliances will count. Anyway, in our alliance there is at least one guild that is not Kami. So it certainly won't work later.

Keoni, having been ingame for about 18 months I don't really appreciate you lecturing me about choices of Guilds.

MCO was formed with the CO leader's agreement but I was subject to many underhand tactics from CO members to close the Guild. I fought against the prejudice and have a subsequent strong attachment to the guild. When outposts are started I am committed to rejoining CO. However, I believe CO only has 3 or 4 active members. So we might have six or seven in total.

The purpose of this thread was to find out the situation of other guilds and whether ouposts were going to need more than half a dozen members to succeed. It wasn't to be advised what guild to choose & how to choose it.
