2GB does help a bit, but unless you really need 2GB it isn't really worth it.riveit wrote:Please excuse the off-topic veer, but I'm thinking of a new computer, so does one really see much difference between 1 GB and 2 GB of RAM for Ryzom? Does a dual core processor matter? (likely will get that anyway)
As for dual core, unless your software and OS is for multi CPUs, it is a complete waste.
Assuming you run a multi CPU OS, the only gain you will see is that SoR can run on one core while everything else runs on the other core, which isn't much gain either.
To have the benefit of multi cores/CPUs, you either have to run several heavy load programs and/or software which is made for it (often render software, CAD/CAM, sound/image processing etc.).
